Hail damage that’s been repaired....Worth a fat discount? The Saab is getting old. We’ve had it for 8 1/2 years, 12 years old, and 160K miles on it. Want’s vs needs. The trunk isn’t getting any bigger.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

On one hand, it’s a fat discount on the highest level trim. It’s been repaired and it is no different than my Taco which had hail damaged and was repaired.

On the other hand, do I really want a hail damaged brand new car?

I thought that Jalopnik had an article on these TourX cars selling for that much of a discount *without* hail damage. If this is the car that you want, if I were you I would look for comparable ones in other locations, see what the sales prices are, then try to get a better deal than those.

I would think that it would depend on how well the repairs were done, to some extent.

I say don’t be put off by the hail. Check it out. If it was fixed by PDR and done right, there is nothing wrong with it.

Locally, they are running about 5-6K off MSRP. This one is 10K and has dual climate, heated front seats, leather, and power front seats. Others are about 30K and don’t have those features.

My battle wagon of a stroller probably won’t fit.

I think if I can get a lifetime warranty by the dealer on the repair or something to that effect, that would alleviate a lot of my concerns.

That’s the one I drove. You can get it cheaper. It’s been on the lot a longgggg time. They had it listed for $28k when I drove it, and even then, the salesman said they were willing to deal on it. They told me about the hail damage when I drove it, I couldn’t see any evidence of it. My only issue with it was it was filthy inside.

When I drove the F150, it was the same thing, they lopped $8k off for the hail damage repair  and still would include any Ford incentives/rebates.

It’d definitely fit in this. The cargo area is huge. The Stinger cargo area isn’t much bigger than a typical trunk.

25 OTD would be a solid deal.

Go take a look at it in person.  If it doesn’t bother you, then don’t worry about it.

It would. When I was looking at them, King Buick in Loveland had non hail repaired models (not the Essence, though) for $24,995.

Not enough discount. Hail kills resale on these, and the depreciation is going to be Regal-like. That means an actual 40% drop when you leave the lot . Not 10%. Not the “oh yeah buying it knocks half off.” The actual value of the car will be 40% below the sticker within the first 12-18 months, tops.

Knock off another two grand, and I would call it a reasonable value, only because it’s Summit White. Summit White can be repaired, but definitely meter the paint on the roof. Roof peel is a thing across all marques and these flex pretty high. As long as it was repaired correctly it’s a non-concern on Summit White. It’s Diamond White Tricoat that can’t be repaired safely.

In lieu of knocking the cash off though, make them throw in an extended bumper to bumper no questions asked warranty. Seriously. If they’ll do 25 OTD with a 10/100k or at least 7/75k bumper to bumper, I’d take it. But not without additional warranty. The transmission in these is blowing up left right and center on owners. Lots of TSBs, lots of major failures.

I’m not too worried about resale. Maybe for an insurance claim, but we’ll keep it and put 150K on it. At that point, resale isn’t much of an issue.

I’ll have to look into the 8 speed.

I saw that same article. Pay Tom to find you one for $10000 off, fly there and drive it back. You’ll still save thousands.
