I hope it drives better than it looks. DLO fail and Toyolex design ethos, only a mother could love.

I think you meant “fogged over x-ray vision glasses on” or maybe just simply “blindfold on” ;) . Other than the front and the DLO fail, I guess it is palatable. I will give it credit for a tallish greenhouse (relative to many modern cars).
I picture it parked in front of mcmansions of matching tacky design.

This stuff won’t age well, not a future classic. In terms of overstyling, Toyolex is stuck in 1958. False dynamism will only fool so many (from what I sometimes see on the road , gormless RX drivers are the type who will fall for it)
I like how some makes are starting to simplify and smooth out many designs now - maybe this brand will follow.

I’m 24 and actually want it now. The drive to work and back is just so pleasant. My ISF hasn’t driven to work with me in a couple months because I don’t want 400+ hp and a stiff suspension when I am just trying to get home from a place I am not too fond of right now.

I still desire some sporty ness and a manual transmission. I think my e90 is a Perfect middle of the road car. It’s plently comfortable, but can also hustle through a roundabout

I suppose it doesn’t have a plastichrome hockey stick or faux fender vents stuck to the side , so it has that going for it, which is nice.

Yeah I just get so stressed at work and then leave and deal with traffic for 25-30 minutes over 10 miles. I just want something that mindlessly and comfortably gets me home. If I had fun roads to and from or less traffic I’d probably drive the ISF more.

I used to be a huge FWD hater but for the purposes o f getting to work comfortably this is fine. I’d really prefer AWD or RWD but the LS500 is not quite worth 2x the ES unless you have screw you money .

Indeed. I legitimately am shocked at how excellent that car is. Which variant did you get to drive?
The hybrid is damn near faultless. That is not to say it is perfect, only that I struggle to find anything glaringly wrong to point out.
Also CarPlay is fucking fantastic. And Alexa is super cool to play with. I think the Alexa integration potentially
might even be more interesting than what Apple can do with CarPlay.

This is a presser so I get it for the week. It’s a ES350 Ultra Luxury . I liked the Hybrid Avalon so I bet the hybrid of this is a dang near perfect commuter. The materials are all really nice, it’s already quiet as could be, and it doesn’t have that whale grill.

Oh no. Just the RX. 3rd space is filled with bikes and unused exercise equipment. A 3rd car would suggest that they actually like cars.
EDIT - it’s probably a GX, not an RX.

Maybe the CUV sleeps outside.
Funny, that reminds me of a more subtle mcmansion on a nice street in a tony neighborhood adjacent to mine (house in the low 7 figures) . 3 car garage, all cars outside as it is full of $300 worth of yard sale rejects. For a long time it was a couple of older LS and a W124 in the driveway , now I think the W124 changed to an RX and the LSs have been updated, so they have a trio.

Anything unusual about it, though? My last two cars have had that feature. Only difference between then is that the GS would retract it when you put the car in reverse, the Mercedes does not.

Only through 2019 in the US officially.
And while a superb car, the new ES is actually that good it could replace a GS easily. Winter wheels and tires are still less than you’d spend on the difference in price between an ES and a GS. And the new Nav tech in the ES is light years ahead of the GS.

I talked a littlee bit about it at the end of this article but I think it’s officially almost gone . It’s sad to see the GS go as it has always been my favorite attainable Lexus. http://www.rightfootdown.com/cars/reviews/cars-reviews/1999-lexus-gs300-vs-2018-lexus-gs300-20-years-of-progress-examined/

A tip of the cap to those people then, at least the original configuration.
There’s a house near me that has the following- almost all under car covers and wearing antique vehicle plates :
W116 - blacked out with AMG badging
* two* BMW E21 323i ( never sold here)
W124 coupe
R107
197 0s GM F body on blocks in garage
W126
And I think I’m forgetting at least one more old Mercedes.

I suspect they’ll make the ES350 with AWD option to compensate(Not in my mind) for the loss of the GS350 AWD. I see more GS350AWDs for sale than RWD versions so we’ll see how many potential buyers switch over.

Under the air-vent to the left of the steering wheel is a button that looks like a windshield with an (!) in it; that is the HUD power button.
Once turned on, use the compass arrows on the left spoke of the steering wheel, tap the left button until you get to the settings (gear icon) category, and then scroll down until you see HUD Adjustment as an option. Tap the Enter in the center of the compass arrows to open the adjustment menu; left/right will adjust HUD brightness, up/down adjust position. Look for the 4 brackets around the corners while adjusting position. You want to see all 4 brackets clearly when adjusting, then you know you have it positioned correctly. It will stay where you adjust it, no need to “save” the HUD position.

When I go biking I go out of my way to ride by there, either to try to say hi or at least see what’s uncovered at the moment. The 124 ( and the 126) seems to be their primary driver, it’s green and in very nice shape. I’ve never seen the 107 uncovered - I’m assuming that’s what it is based on shape.

I always recommend ESesesesess? to acquaintances that aren’t really into cars or doing car maintenance, but are looking for something upscale. They’ve always been fantastic cars in pretty much all the metrics most people use to judge cars by.
Unfortunately, the people I’ve recommended them to have never actually followed said recommendation.
One of them has gone through a W202 (and complained about high repair costs) , an E46 (and complained about frequent and expensive repairs and various trim and accessory failures ), and a Genesis Sedan (now complaining about high fuel costs). He’s terrible at staying on top of maintenance, and, honestly, an ES would do everything he keeps buying other cars to do, better.

I hope those are good car covers - rot can set in even when under a cover.
I can’t think of any fanboy hoarders like that in my area, but I do know of a house with maybe half a dozen 80s-90s BMWs hanging around, and another with a driveway containing 2 124s and a 201.

The BMWs seem to shuffle around, so they must be running. The guy with the old MBs appears to keep them all as DDs - I have even seen the hoods up at various times, likely for DIY servicing.
