Having everything one could have hoped for and much more, and living with someone who still manages to find insignificant things to complain about..... Lois, if you wanna eat you’re going to have to deal with the shit on the other end.
I also get the allure of
seasoned
women; they’ve lived, and know what does and does not matter.

Should’ve seen the mess my housemate left on the bench the last 4 days. Clean up your shit brother.
I dunno. It doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme. But is it so hard to be a bit considerate? We’re sharing this space.

Welcome to the human condition, ain’ t it grand?
For my daughter’s 6th birthday this past weekend, I spent the better part of a grand on a huge party, and a new loft bed/desk/chair for her. It was exactly want she wanted, and she was over the moon excited. Precisely 1.2 seconds after I was done assembling them, she started asking me for a computer. I did not handle that particularly well, I must confess.

I just tend to internally classify what you call seasoned women as women (they take care of themselves, ask for what they want without games, and know a thing or two.) I like spending time with women, regardless of romantic or casual setting.
I call the rest (internally) girls, and while I’m externally polite and don’t harbor any grudges, I don’t have time or energy to devote to dealing with silly bullshit.

So what causes the transformation? Kids?
We’re not ready for kids, or rather I want to wait another 2 years to sort some career goals out.

TL;DR sorry for wall of text, kids can do it but a lot of times it’s a combo of nurture/nature and specific conditions, like developing inner self-esteem through life challenges.
====
Sometimes. A lot of times it’s not that simple. T he s ituation is different for each woman, it seems. Kids can do it, but I’ve seen a lot of trashy moms who treat their kids like property/leverage. Also, a lot of it isn’t gender specific. Seems to be a combo of how they were raised plus how they intrinsically are.
1. Ability to emotionally process and accept and move on from a pretty bad trauma. Most girls/women have had bad experiences with a lot of things, and how they handled it matters
. Look to see how she handles minor bumps and whether or not she needs your input to deal with most if not all
issues.
2. They’ve had long enough to work out self-issues. This can take until mid-20's early 30's, where it starts to take legitimate work to maintain a 19 year old body. They still care about themselves but don’t project their insecurities on others. Look for how they treat friends who she thinks are better looking than her (don’t provide feedback!)
3. How she treats people who can do nothing for her. Mature women tend to not take things for granted. Perhaps late bloomers or girls who never got that much attention growing up slot in here. When you’re spoiled (either guy or girl) being just polite to a stranger isn’t thought about.
4. K eep in mind all this stuff can be spoiled by undiagnosed mental illness, and everyone has baggage, so it’s important to observe minor details and remember them as best you can.

I saw someone somewhere describe humans as “world-class yearners,” which has really stuck with me

It should also be made clear that I am a RAMPANT complainer. So I’m also pleased that someone is willing to put up with that on a regular basis.

Haha, I appreciate how deep that went.
Its not that bad, the joke is that we recently bought a house, and I did a full renovation, took 6 months, it was lots of fun... but the results are amazing, I pinch my self everyday. Anyways like all things construction there are always a few things that aren’t completed. To complete them some messes must be made, by messes I mean spackle dust and maybe some saw dust if that. To the boss dust is satan spawn, and basically things are expected to be done hermetically. Mind you this is all diy, anyways thankfully shes a night nurse, and when she works I do what I gotta do, how I wanna do. And then I clean up. Its great really. She just had the fever of having something new. Cant wait for things to get old, then she’ll care a little less. Or I’m kidding my self and I just need to hurry up and finish all the loose ends.
To summarize with an automotive analogy: our house was basically a barnfind Jaguar E type that we got for beige Camry money, completely mint, but it only needed a whole new interior. Anyways we’re almost done, almost done with the beautiful thing, all thats left is the headliner trim... and dispite the beauty of the hole dame thing, the body, the ride, the sound, amazing steal of a deal, some of us can only see that damn missing trim, never mind the car that in no way under normal circumstances could we act afford it and yet...
Anyways, I’
m being dramatic cause its fun, in reality nothing grinds my gears, i
ts just amazing is all.

Haha, that feeling of relief that you will get when the renovation is done is in comparable . That first day where you just look at the final result in its splendor, before anything else gets to taint its brand-new shiny luster.
Sorry to hear about the dust, GL in your cleaning. I’m sure it’s not that bad and it’ll all work out in the end.

I mean, it’s likely that if you don’t complain much, there are other issues that can pick up the slack.
You could probably listen more to her feelings and validate them more often :D

SUCK IT UP
At least now that my kids are young adults and I continue to dole out the money, they generally appreciate my input.
Nobody said it’d be easy, only that it’d be worth it.

Rotten sneakers. Someone in 5th Period has rotten sneakers and it is just this side of bad enough to make me gag. 6th Period comes in, complains, and starts spraying perfume. Then I get ill from the fragrances.
Where it snows, I bet it’s much worse.

The perfume is SOOOOO much worse than whatever smell they’re trying to cover up!
It’s actually less of a problem in the winter, because they’re not as sweaty and stinky.

But the perfume smells goooood !
The other thing that I truly hate is those air fresheners that teachers plug into the outlets and it poisons the air in the room and makes me feel immediately ill.

They’re horrible. There’s a counselor where we have
SST
meetings and I can’t handle being in there more than a couple of minutes.
