They both suck. If anything, the production version is marginally less sucky, because the wheels are too effing big on the concept.

Pretty much. I mean, it was not a radical concept even in the first place to dull it down even further . But then again, nothing beats Subaru in continuously disappointing us with concepts
2015. Never forget

to be fair that Subaru concept looks stupid. If they actually put out a sedan with a belt line like that you wouldn’t be able to see out of it.

Never ask what’s the point of more crossovers in today’s market.

Just like a CC was just a Passat with half the functionality (and one seat) removed.
Even VW knew this, so they dropped the “Passat” portion of the name after just 2 years, IIRC. See also: Accord Crosstour, Pathfinder Armada, Camry Solara.

I thought the Atlas was one of the ugliest cars on sale today, but this somehow trumps it. How on earth did VW go from having a portfolio of (mostly) the best looking mainstream cars
to this?

If you’re going have the same type of body style, the same type of crossover saturate the market, at least axe the former product.

Headroom.
Finally understand why these are all “ coupé s” ... because it’s the French word for “cut”, thus the lack of headroom makes them perfect for clergy and aristocrats.

Just see ms very silly for their biggest SUV thing to have a “sporty” version.

1. They want to be Land Rover?
2. The Tiguan has two versions, so why not?
Part of me thinks this is some elaborate joke being played on North America by a bunch of rich Germans in a boardroom, all over some bet they have about how stupid we are.

It’s.......worse than the Atlas. I like the Atlas. It’s a tidy,
clean design. But that sloping rear window just looks awkward. Less awkward than the X6, thank goodness, but still less good than the original Atlas. (And with less space, no doubt.)

SUV peak market saturation. More models to cram into niches that don't exist. I'm still waiting for the Suburban coupe.

Say all you want, but I still think the crossover market is a bit overs at urated at this point.

Audi with the Q8 and now VW with this have managed to make SHIT s that are largely inoffensive. Instead of having swoopified back ends like the X6 etc, these are like bobtail versions of 3-row CUVs . In terms of practicality it sorta makes sense because they’re effectively midsize 2-row CUVs with slightly extra-raked rear windshields, and no compromised rear headroom or visibility.
But to me at least, they also look too dull to attract the usual SHIT attention. Then again, maybe the SHIT customers are willing to buy any SHIT that a car company says is a SHIT.

I was trying to help a relative and it really is ridiculous how many models there are, that are practically the same thing.
“whats the difference between ___, ___, and ___ blank?”
“um about 3 inches of wheelbase and 4 inches of trunk space”

Right?! I recently gave car buying advice to my mother-in-law. I recommended a CX-5 or Tiguan because she wanted something fun to drive. She bought a Santa Fe after questioning me about nearly every CUV on the market. I told her no one makes a bad car (except GM) and to buy whatever suits her fancy. The Santa Fe is pretty nice!

I read this a long time ago, but one thing I still remember was a sectionon a grocery store isle, how companies spend all this money to make, transport, inventory and distribute a new flavor item, and their total sales only tick up a couple percent.
I think the car industry is in a similar point of saturation.

After reading the description, I'd have to agree. How much more of the market share did Ford get from the ecosport- a vehicle slightly smaller than the already pretty small escape? I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild...

The concept totally had a Range- Rover- esque “it” factor. It truly looked like something s pecial.

The concept looked like a $90,000 car. The production version looks fine, but it also looks like it costs half as much.
