well continuing our rants discussion on people who do nice things that are actually quiet dumb, I encountered another one today. I’m waiting to cross the street on the sidewalk. A woman, who has a green light and lots of impatient drivers behind her decided to stop to let me cross. While this was nice, had i tried crossing I would have been splatter by the 18 wheeler blasting past in the lane next to her.

Plot twist - she’s a serial killer, and was hoping you didn’t see the 18 wheeler.
But ya, what an effing moron.

Yeah, that’s much worse than the other one. Yield to pedestrians at crosswalks, but not at a light when it is not their turn. Doesn’t just imp ede traffic, it actively puts the pedestrian in danger.

I support the tricolore M grill, it’s kind of clever. The little Italia badge under the headlight might be a little much.

I get that when I’m on my bike (bicycle.) I actually stop for stop signs and red lights. usually, though, if I come to a 4 way stop after another car reaches it, they’ll try to wave me through. I’ll wave them off, and they’ll sit there and insist. Then I get visibly irritated and they get pissy. #1, the rules of a 4 way stop don’t change depending on vehicle type, #2 I may be wanting to catch a quick breath, #3 it takes me way more effort to get moving than it does you.
I call it “over-aggressive politeness.”

Almost plowed into the back of a lexus RX one morning when a “very kind soul” decided to stop and wave someone through at an intersection....specifically someone who had a stop sign and we had priority traffic. Oh, and the garbage truck c oming up behind me might’ve motivated my panicked honking.

#1, the rules of a 4 way stop don’t change depending on vehicle type
So much this. Why are you suddenly trying to rewrite the traffic code just because my vehicle has pedals? Acting unpredictably is the best way to end up in a crash.
On my former bike commute, there was one place where I had to stop (with a stop sign) and wait to cross a fairly busy road. It’s cool. I can be patient. But so often one person on the busy road would decide to just stop for no other reason than a guy on a bike was waiting to cross. Traffic would back up behind them. Meanwhile, I can’t go even if I wanted, because no one was so silly in the opposite lane of the busy road, and traffic continues to fly by at 45 mph. In some cases, the stopped person would get visibly angry with me for not going. When they finally did speed off in a huff, there would then be a long long line of backed up traffic behind them that I then had to wait even longer to clear before I could go. Their “over-aggressive politeness” actually added a significant inconvenience to me and delayed me unnecessarily.
Just follow the damn rules, people!
