Ragtops are pretty much the only thing I want from life.

I want a Packard ragtop, because I have unreasonable expectations.

For me, when I was a teenager the only car that interested me at all was a yellow Duesenberg ragtop. 30 years later I settled for a yellow Wrangler.

I could get a ragtop for my Rover for much cheaper than a ‘48-’50 Packard, but some things Must Be Done.

I’ve always had a weird fascination with the Kaiser Darrin. I have a better chance of owning that C2 (0%) than ever touching a Darrin but that doesn’t stop the want.

Love that color - and those knock off wheels.
I also kinda like that it doesn’t have side pipes.

You’ll have much better luck finding a Packard than I would a Duesenberg, I suspect.

I’ve never seen one before . Cool car.
I’m not a big fan of pale yellow or beige, but that straddles the line with panache.

I’m once again reminded that I’m not really a car guy, because wheels just completely escape my notice . I barely noticed the tires on the Darrin just because they blend so well with the body color; I never notice wheels.

There’s actually a basketcase Packard convertible about two hours from here, or was, for sale for <$10k, but in pieces. Properly restored ones are worth more than $70, because they are quite rare. The non-convertible ones are out there in iffy/project-car shape as well, and are just common enough I probably wouldn’t get burned at the stake for using one as a parts car or making my own factory repro convertible pieces.
If I got a ‘50, I’d have the option to make a factory-looking four-door convertible, since that year they offered a four-door hardtop after years of two-door only.

While not a convertible, I long for my neighbor’s ‘67 L71 Corvette that sadly hasn’t moved in 30+ years. Cosmetically, it’s immaculate, and I guess at least it’s garage kept. But man, it’s sad that it isn’t driven.
Being in a landlocked state, a convertible makes me feel like I’m in a boat, which is a good feeling. The intense sun during summer months here, though, and I didn’t drive the Miata far during those months.

Bah - to each his own, you like what you like.
I suspect, though, that you subconsciously pick up the wheels, and they end up as part of the package that you like (or don’t like).

Google Image Search is very confident that this is a Jensen Interceptor, but I will disagree and say it’s a 65-66. I think the only distinguishing feature between the two years was a little badge on the driver’ s side hood. I know the Corvette crowd likes to keep things accurate but it may have disappeared for whatever reason, so you never now.

How do you feel about pistachio green? I think they look best in a regular yellow, white or red but like a lot of cars in the 50s they had some unusual colors available.

The red interior makes it, IMHO- I don’t like white/pale beige cars, but with a bright red interior, especially on a convertible, it works great on old cars. I may or may not have owned a white ‘64 Olds with a red interior...

I find that with a hat and a dropped windshield I’m fine with 90º weather, but I’ve never had to deal with truly brutal heat.
When I had my del Sol, I would occasionally put the top on when it got too sunny, but at the time I didn’t regularly keep a hat with me, and of course I didn’t have doors and windshield removed.

10/10 would back out of a parking just to crash it

I went for a two hour drive just once in the Miata during July. I had a hat, but forgot the sunscreen, and was only wearing a t-shirt. Yes, silly me could have stopped at a store for sunscreen, but I didn’t. I was burnt to a crisp. I knew when I felt the heat on my skin, I was in trouble, so I put the top up, but the damage was done at that point. June/July can be brutal.

I don’t know if it’s a myth or not, but the higher altitudes can make it worse it seems. Went for a road trip this summer with the top open and got completely burned in just a few hours in the afternoon.

Rockers and grille were a little different from 65-66, too- believe this is a ‘65.

I love bright colors, but that may be a bit too much. I think as WilliamsSW says, the interior makes a big difference: that one needs something different to contrast with the green.

Definitely not a myth. There are a few studies that put it at 10% higher UV-B rays for every 1000’ of altitude. The numbers very, but you’re definitely going to burn quicker here than at sea level, which is where I spent my like before moving to CO twenty years ago.
