Trump might as well wrap this one and put a bow on it. I can’t think of much else that would make Putin happier.

Good, get our people out of there.
If anything comes up and we need to blow up another school or hospital, we have drones for that. No need for people on the ground.

Yeah, if you want to see how successful a drone war can be, just look at Afghanistan!

I would like to have our people home. But declaring that ISIS is defeated is another lie, and handing Syria over to Assad and the Russians would be a mistake, IMO.

Well we didn’t really have drones pre-9/11, and since then we’ve had troops in place, so it’s not quite the same. A better idea might be to look out how successful our drone interventions in Yemen have been...

His Christmas isn’t even until the 7th of January though, Trump could have waited until he was back from vacation. Hell he even could have shipped over those red trees (with a hammer and sickle topper, they’d be prefect for even the most godless Soviet ) once Christmas had passed here.

We’ve had troops sitting in FOBs while we tried to fight a drone war over the better part of a decade. Now were at a point where our own generals are saying were are in a stalemate with the Taliban (who now control 60% of the country).
Yemen is another example of the negative results of a drone war.

The US pulling out of Syria would be a mind boggling victory for Putin and a deplorable abandonment of our Kurdish allies. Either Trump is a monumental idiot (which he is), or he really is getting his marching orders from the Kremlin.

I know there would be serious ramifications for our treaty relations with Turkey, but the fact that we didn’t take advantage of the implosion of Iraq to help create a Kurdish state is a grave disservice to a people who deserve much better.

Trump is licking Erdogan’s boots, too. He kowtows to despots because he wants to be one himself. He’s been a kiss ass all his life, and he feels important when he is befriended by powerful men. He just doesn’t understand that Putin, particularly, is a seriously smart guy who is basically running the US right now.

“ISIS” may be defeated now, just like “Al Queda” was previously defeated .
The key take away here is that some other differently-named extremist group will pop up in some other shit- hole country (that has oil), and the US will need to send drones to blow up schools and hospitals there instead.

When the Washington Examiner turns on Trump, you know he’s done screwed up.

Syria’s done, there’s no reason for staying. Even Russia’s winding down drastically.

Not with a drone, we didn’t. Did it the good ‘ol fashioned way and set up a fake vaccine clinic in order to obtain his kids’ DNA. Filled him full of 5.56mm holes before dumping his body into the ocean. We then let the guy who told us where he was get arrested by the Pakistanis for helping us.
I’d like to see a drone pilot show that sort of ingenuity.
