This shop is from a small town close to me, and as cool as this is, is there really a market for this?

https://www.gatewaybronco.com/

These truck are pretty cool and the OG bronco’s are awesome. This shop also does good enough work that Ford themselves have allowed them to use the Ford name in a licensing agreement.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Their work looks perfect frankly, and the use of what appears to be quality parts would put these on par with the ICON Defenders. However, these trucks start at $90k and run all the way up to nearly $200k. Can this be serious, are people really in that big of a need to pass out money?

All in all, the trucks are awesome (and with a coyote, probably a hoot to drive) but holy crap expensive. Its also pretty cool to see a small town (Population. 800) shop get noticed by the big boys for quality work.

Much discussion on the FP. I think the conclusion is: yes, some  people will pay through the nose for these things.

That’s very cool. Way too many people have money to burn; I’m sure they’ll do just fine.

The market for this is the “stupid rich”.

This car will not be a daily driver. It will be bought by some rich asshole that already has 5 other cars for the sole purpose of showing off how much of a rich asshole they are.

I’d buy one if I fit the target market.

There’s definitely a market, but none of us  are in that market.

probably still half quite a bit cheaper than  an Icon. seeing as Icon is a “if you have to ask” situation where they don’t even give you a price until things get serious.

Also the Icon electric VW Thing is for sale right now for 155,000. thats a lot of dough when you consider that really nice Things usually go for 15-20 ,000 dollars

I don’t visit the FP that often, but its cool that they are getting some press. I hope for their sake they succeed. Just blows me away the money getting thrown around.

This is definitely a stones throw from some areas with lots of “stupid rich” folks. It just amazes me that there are enough “stupid rich” folks that are willing to part with on average 150k for a 1gBronco. This seems like an extremely small market to be making a “production” vehicle for.

People apparently pay 60k+ for Grand Wagoneers; no shortage of stupid money in the world.

How do you know, we had dinner at the Hardee’s last night, clearly I have 200k to burn on a frivolous single use vehicle.

At least a GW can be quasi practical. A 1gBronco is close to the same size as a TJ, thus not practical. Not to mention that 60k is basically half the starting price of these. They advertise starting at 95k, but apparently you really can’t get out the door for less than $120k.

I’m curious about how these compare to the Icon4x4  versions.

Wow, I didn’t know that Icon had a Bronco as well. No the market is completely saturated and prices are guaranteed to drop like a rock.

At those prices, who knows, but it’s kinda like some of the other shops there doing high quality restomods of sought-after old cars. Singer 911s being the top of that particular heap.

It’s a small market in regards to # of people, but large in terms of available $$$.

Plus, with much higher transaction prices (and profit per unit), you don’t need to sell as many to be profitable.

Oh I totally understand the economics, just seems crazy that there is enough of a market to warrant multiple companies doing basically the same thing.
