Is it wrong for me to be concerned by the fact that this engine could hardly be reliable in the Focus RS and now it’ll be making more power in the Ranger?

Are you talking about the gasket issues? I haven’t read extensively about that but I thought that was a small % of engines. Even if so I would assume Ford must have fixed that for this Ranger.
Also, how is the Ranger making more power than the Focus RS which has 350 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The Ranger is definitely not as high strung as a focus so I expect it to be more reliable.

One: They probably didn’t drop the engine into the truck wholesale from the Focus, the engine layout’s are different. Changes were made. Probably different cam, valves, possibly a different head, pistons............
Two: The Ranger makes less power than the Focus.

I have no idea how the new Ranger does, but previous Rangers, while certainly robust and dependable, are among the WORST DRIVING, MOST MISERABLE VEHICLES I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. WORST. EVER.

if I remember its actually the other way around - 270 hp with premium, and less with regular, though I might be mixing it up with another vehicle. Its interesting that the Tacoma used to have different premium/regular ratings too.
4 extra hp and 12 extra lbs-ft on premium.

Ford Ranger is just a wretched, miserable vehicle, albeit a robustly dependable wretched, miserable vehicle. *Credit assigned where due.
Any experience with the new ones? The odds of me every buying a new car are about lottery ticket small, but the chances of that new car being a Ford truck of any flavor are nil. A friend of mine just bought a big Ford F-150 Fancy Pants Package and wow, what a POS on the inside. But I kept my comments to myself, other than rant about it here. Pee. Oh. Ess.

The Ranger Raptor is the one I’m looking forward to. I’m curious if it will be the hit that the Raptor is. What’ll really be mind blowing is to see what it’ll top out at price wise + inevitable dealer markup. I wonder how many people will be able to swallow a $60k+ R anger.
