HIGHS Attractive, spacious, simple powertrain menu.

LOWS Some buyers may want more choices, lower trims feel cheap.

Also, my opinion on the Ranger, reiterating what I said in my comment in the FP post, understand this is coming from someone who has never owned a truck-

I have seen and read every single one of these reviews I posted, for the first time ever in my life, based on seeing and reading reviews, I kinda want a truck- and this one specifically. I don’t prefer Crossvers but I like the appeal of a truck instead because it is so different to what I usually like- Sports Sedans and Wagons. I’ll not use it to go offload or tow. Perhaps the occasional Home Depot trip, but they market the ranger as an outdoorsy lifestyle vehicle and it will fit me just fine, I wont complain that it is not trucky enough to do all the trucky things, I have not driven the old one so I wont complain how big it’s become. I just want one because it is cool, and practical. It has the right size and space, Good tech and safety features, A solid turbo engine and I absolutely love how it looks. This is how I would configure one-4WD XLT sport supercrew with 302 and sport package. I don’t see myself owning one for a long time so it’s lease for me.

I have ridden in the V6 Colorado, I like the new RST trim as well, perhaps as an alternative option but the 2.3 Ecoboost with all that torque and that 10 speed would be perfect for daily driving, especially in traffic.

F150 is just too big, I don’t want a full size behemoth. I don’t like how the Ridgeline looks, and instead of that I’d rather buy the Honda Passport. I like how the Tacoma in TRD trims look also but then again reviews show it’s more unrefined and I think the newer Ranger with the bells and whistles is a better family daily driver vehicle. Of course I have to test drive all the midsize ones to see what suits me best, but as of today I am very impressed by the Ranger’s overall package.

your configuration is exactly how id take mine 2019 Super Crew XLT 4x4 with the 302A sport package but id take mine in Lightning Blue and add the FX4 package as well.

I’d like that orange if it wasn’t for the fact every time I look out my front window I see my neighbor’ s POS Cobalt in that same color

Personally I want its friend (maybe a somewhat related platform?) the new Explorer. Once that’s been on the market for 3-4 years I could see myself starting to look into it seriously. I mean damn. Finally something to properly compete with the Grand Cherokee and the Durango. Chevy and Ford have completely abandoned the RWD mid-size SUV game. Honestly, GM could be in for a hurting once the new Explorer gets into full production swing (as well as its friend the Aviator *drool*) .

A Ranger would/may honestly be my next (new) vehicle if I didn’t have an old Ranger... I’m eventually going to need at least one of three vehicles to be both safe and convenient for my little girl. However I love my ranger and am reluctant to trade it on a new one with only two pedals.

I really hope Toyota is getting the message here that while the formula totally works, they need to be faster at making the small changes that are going to keep their truck relevant.

T he 8 speed needs to go in yesterday

J ust put discs on the back. it doesn’t matter but it will shut people up.

Android auto/apple car play. I don’t care but people do.

As for the rest like towing and payload...no one cares. Payload mat ters to some people but no one is towing 7500 lbs with their midsize, at least not more than once in a blue moon.

As for the engine? they could do better but the 3.5 is fine, it really is. Could they make it better? yes. Do they have to. no. I would love to see them either raise the rev limit to be more like the camry and open up way more top shelf power that no one really uses but looks good on paper. 500 rpm more would net you ~20 more peak hp. ~300 hp puts it a lot closer to the competition even if its just on paper.  Its the same engine as the camry mines a few small differences and tune. its not hard.
