Rolled, then arrested for grand theft auto.

You can't steal what probably doesn't exist.

Damn, that might be worth the risk of losing a kidney. How hard is it to file for a title on a totally not stolen car in Il?

Shiv?
You mean glock or an ar-15

Nah, I figu re that it exists, but isn’t owned by the “ seller".

If there is a car, it's definitely stolen. I don't think there is though, or there would at least be one crappy pic.

Or a few friends and several guns.

What could go wrong? Still, best to be careful. Would one of you in the area go check out for me? I’ll pay for the PPI.

I’ve heard the south side of Chicago is a bit of a tough neighborhood.

Parts of it are very deadly. This car is in an area that could go either way ... Of it even exists ... Which I doubt it does . I won’t be finding out.

Good point. Any way you slice it, going to look at this car is a really bad idea.

No, shivs are illegal in Chicago , just like guns.
You need a flamethrower.

Find a cop friend to buy it?

The car isn’t in Chicago city limits. You can pack a gun there, if you have a CC permit.
I don't though. Nor do I have a gun.

You could file for a bonded title. It's extra cost and extra paperwork, and if it does come up stolen you're SOL.

The first thing I did upon seeing the ad, was send it to a cop friend. He suggested arriving in the tactical command bus.

That would be a bad ass thing to do - for any craigslist meet up :D

Why do you say this? Just curious
shop-teacher

It’s a deal that way too good to be true, with no pictures to back it. They’re trying to lure in somebody too excited by this deal to stop and ask qu estions. They want somebody who will text their burner phone and say, “I’ll take it, where can I come get it?” Then stop at the ATM and grab $500.
It’s in an area that’s hit or miss as far as being safe as well, but honestly, no matter where this was, you’d better show up armed and with friends to this meeting.

Haha, armed! Man.
It didn’t sound that good to me, some old Chev with questionable history, no title or keys. I’d have thought if it was bait they’d make it sound more appealing.
Maybe I’m underestimating the appeal of old Camaros

Yeah, they may not be your thing, but they fetch really good money. '69 is the most desirable year. A complete car in crappy shape is worth at least $3000.
Nauraushaun

12/19/2018 at 21:23 | 0 |
Ah, I see I see.
They aren’t my country’s thing. I’ve seen a handful but I’ve no idea what the right year is for them. We just don’t have them
shop-teacher

Gotcha. There are definitely Camaros where $500 would be a fair price, or even too much.
What country are you in?

Yeah, I bet you’re got a much better bead on the Ute market, than the Camaro market :)
Nauraushaun

12/20/2018 at 15:29 | 1 |
Sure do. Anything more than 5 years old is worth about 3k. Except the Maloos.
But the last ute has been built so that’ll change one of these days.

That makes me sad. I was holding out hope for years, that we would finally have a company import us some of those sweet sweet Utes. Alas, it shall never be.

Alas. Pour one out.
Hey this is the death of our culture, feel for poor Australia! The ute was ours, and it will never return.

Consider it poured. I do actually feel for Australia! You’ve lost an entire industry, as well as a huge piece of your automotive cultural identity.
Now, to put this ad I posted about into context, imagine it was an ad for the most desirable classic Ute for $500.

Haha, I don’t know
that
much about utes. I can imagine the right Monaro or Torana
for such a price would be a steaaal
