Ellie is getting spayed on Tuesday and while she’s already being anesthetized the vet wants to amputate her nub-leg. She’s had a lot of trouble with it lately - it almost appears to have exposed bone on the end, but given how much pain she’s in if it’s touched I’m not looking close enough to verify.
She’s otherwise been running around like a total goofball all day so it’s time for a nap with her 3-legged dog-mom.

Aww, poor Ellie. I hope the amputation takes care of the pain. I don’t know how often these cases in cats lead to phantom limb pain, but I hope this isn’t one of them.
Scooby has to go to the vet this week, but not for anything nearly so serious. She seems to have worms (not too hard to see with a black cat), despite our monthly treatments.

Aw poor kitty. I hope she gets fixed up good. I kinda want a cat again for the mice. But our husky just loves him some cat stalking.

Oof, yeah Ellie needed worm treatment when I found her too. Thankfully it was successful and that was all we had to deal with from being born outside.
I’m not sure on the phantom pain thing - Shelly hasn’t had any issues, so fingers crossed. I often catch her “scratching” her ear/face with that leg though. It makes sense that the dog does it, since she had her left leg for 11 years so there’s a lot of habit to overcome ...Ellie never had that foot to scratch with.

Shelly will chase any cat outside but lets them literally walk all over her in the house. I wonder what would happen if I got a pet squirrel.

I sincerely hope it all goes well and Ellie can move on without the pain and suffering.
Give her some more tight hugs from me.

Do it and report back the carnage that ensues.
