My dad now owns another suv along with a 2005 explorer they have probably put too much money into. My mom didn’t like then whole idea and said my dad is going to end up like me with a bunch of cars that don’t run. But this one does. If nothing else it’ll become a hunting vehicle or farm truck. Cheaper than a $5,000 atv.
Text from my dad:
I still haven’t seen it. Il check it out next Sunday.

Chances of it being an exhaust stud are high. Those VG’s like to break exhaust studs

Hope it’s a manuel.. $300 autos usually need a new transmission and cooling system..

It’s more than likely an auto. My cousin was getting another hand me down car, they probably took it to a dealer and got the $2,000 quote. That’s why they got rid of it.

Well, I recommend he change out the transmission cooler ASAP and avoid the whole strawberry milkshake transmission fluid situation.

The coolant mixing with atf wasn’t much of an issue with this generation, it plagued the 2nd gen trucks though. T he automatic transmissions were pretty bullet proof . These suffered from catalytic converter issues and premature aluminum corrosion in the lower intake and thermostat housing.

I bet it’ll sit until January. But it’ll be on the list of things to check out.

I work with a guy that had the blue one of those, no supercharger - put a ton of hard miles on in and traded it in for an Outback a couple years ago. That one looks pretty crunchified up front, but maybe if nothing important is smushed...
