"way2blu does a rev update" (way2blu)

I need another set of wheels; been dailying on my RE-71R autocross tires for 2 weeks now. Oppo, what wheels would you wanna see on WAY2BLU?
My coilovers are leveled for staggered rim sizes, so ideally the wheels I pick should be something like 16” front/17”rear. Can go up to 18” rear and as small as 15” front. Just 1” bigger rims at the back.
What do all y’all think? Retro, modern, or something else entirely?
Should I get turbofans?

It’s an older MR2. Turbofans are definitely not appropriate here. Instead, look to what Toyota put on them from the factory.
Toyota consistently stuck with larger spokes and simpler design language with full face wheels on the MR2. Car and wheel design, in my experience, goes hand in hand. You don’t just slap BBS wheels on anything and call it a day. (Well, some people do. Those people are wrong, of course.)
HOWEVER, because Toyota clearly spoke two very distinct and complementary design languages here, you have a LOT of REALLY good options. So what’s your price range here? Because:
These would look right at home on an MR2. 5 big chunky spokes. And as much as I hate Ringbrothers as a bunch of hacks that overcharge for junk, these wheels basically ape Toyota wheel design language from the era. (Note the ‘propeller’ cut on the spokes.)
Problem here is: these will run you about $1800. Per wheel .
But then you mentioned retro and liking it. Well. There’s ONLY ONE place to go for that. Yeah folks, we ain’t fucking around here.
That’s right - Compomotive MO5 series. And they’re about half the price of the HRE’s. Er. So yeah. That’s still
a thousand bucks a wheel.
But here’s a crazy thought: have you considered 5 lug conversion? The MR2 is 5x114.3 +45. Well hey guess what awesomely retro wheel comes in 17" and a 5x114.3 +37 ?
Yep, those are Toyota OE Supra wheels! Direct bolt-on to the MR2 5 lug. Available in 16" or 17". But let’s go TRULY retro, shall we?
Supra Mk3! 16" or 17", though the 17's can be EXTREMELY hard to find.

HERESY
I do like your suggestion of chunky 5 spokes though

Konig Helium: go 15x6.5 front and 16x7 rear. Clean design, not too busy, spokes are a multiple of the number of lugs, and they’re lightweight (11-ish pounds for the 15x6.5) for their affordable prices .
