“Found poor repairs that was not within Jaguar Land Rover specifications”

Inb4 said repairs were performed by another JLR dealer, or even another tech at the same dealer.

I’d imagine you’re right, or those parts wouldn’t be listed as no charge, though we do have to consider the possibility it came from the factory like that.

Who ever worked on the car last... it was probably their last day on the job or their first day ever doing things with wrenches.

Had they actually charged, that’s probably a $6000 job, right?

If temp sensor “1 ” is hidden behind the tran smission, where is/ are the other(s)?

I would bet you money it’s located low on the rear of the block. Under the firewall cowl.

Meaning removing the transmission is the easy  way to get at it.

I had to pay for the top half due to someone’s hack job voiding the warranty. $1500, but the dealer sent me a $100 coupon the night before it was done.

Not sure I want to know what the lower half would have cost. I’m guessing within the same order of magnitude as dropping the transmission .

They found that someone had replaced a connector and failed to crimp one of the leads.

Only the lower half was no charge. I got pwned for the upper half due to shoddy previous repair.

The theory is that since that sensor is not really accessible without dropping the gearbox, it could have been rodent damage (not covered), prev owner balked at the cost of doing it right, had someone do a hack job instead.

The old sensor connector was found to have one lead completely un-crimped.
