I just officially received my M aster of Science degree in Automotive Technology, woohoo! I actually focussed more on Control Engineering and Battery systems, but the title sounds nice anyway.
Post quirky French cars to celebrate with me!

Congratulations! Here’s a coal-powered Traction Avant, good for 55mph and a 40 mile range after the burners got nice and hot.

I know its not french but its definitely an Engineer’ s car
do you need to pursue a licence now or are you done? After I got my master’s I still couldn’ t legally call myself an architect. I’m awaiting the arrival of my licence . All the paperwork has been submitted and they have cashed my check . The y said ti was a 5-15 week wait until it would show up in the mail.
Good job, keep up the hard work.

Those gasifiers are actually a pretty interesting solution that was perfect for the time period .

Congratulations. In the spirit of # Planelopnik All The Things, here is a quirky French airplane.

Thanks! That’s a great choice of car, very engineer-like indeed.
I can call myself an engineer as of now, as we have to vow to adhere to the Dutch Scientific code of conduct (which states all the rules for c larity and honesty in your work, as well as the personal responsibility towards the impact your work may have on people/animals etc).
It sucks that an institute that mainly just needs to check if you have the correct degree, takes such a long time to deliver your license. I hope you receive it soon!

Welcome to the club
Not too quirky, but it is a twin engine 2CV.

Thanks!
Wow, that’s a very quirky looking plane! It’s a shame they cancelled the project

Thanks! It took some effort , but I hope it gives me a good base for the rest of my career.
The Talbot/Simca- Matra Rancho is amazing . Probably one of the reasons I love French cars is that a Dutch children’s show used one of these!

I keep on asking the lane to let me drive that car but they keep saying no for some reason...

Interesting fact, a replica of this is at the Lane and it’s yuuuge.

Thanks!
That’s a great one! I think it even has twin-GS engines, which makes it a twin flat 4

Here’s a US spec CX25 GTI with the suspension all the way up in celebration. Congrats!

It certainly is. I find those early attempts at jet fighters fascinating. A lot of aero designers just didn’t know what to do. The Grognard looked a little better when they put a more traditional cockpit on it.
Before that was the Sud-Ouest Triton , the first French-built jet, built in secret during the German occupation during WWII. The air intake was under the nose and passed to the engine by a tunnel that went through the middle of the cockpit. Later prototypes moved the intakes to the side, in front of the wing. This shot gets both a quirky airplane and a quirky car.

i actually just called. they are just waiting for my criminal background check to come back and then it gets its final review, so its moving along. it is a large sack of BS that it takes this long. I think i’m somewhere around 10 weeks at this point.

That one is so quirky that I don’t even know what it is?

Have a French-Canadian car! Congrats, Great power/great respon sibility etc.
With all the logic, reason and hard science going on around you, don’t forget to sacrifice someone from sales and marketing to your god.

Congratulations!
I’m wondering if the rules over there are different. Over here, when there are professional licensure requirements, you aren’t allowed to call yourself “architect” or “engineer” until you pass the appropriate exam. My wife reminds me of this every time I call her an architect. She has the education, but hasn’t passed the exams. Generally, licensing is handled by the state. There are a few exceptions. For example, if a person holds a master’s degree in architecture, that person can be licensed nationally with the appropriate exams.
How is it handled over there?

Thanks, I definitely am very proud of myself ! :)
![]() 12/13/2018 at 10:30 |

Oh wow, that’s like a Renault Lotus Europa :p
The company I work at actually doesn’t have a proper sales and marketing department, we just use engineers for that!
![]() 12/13/2018 at 10:38 |

That sounds like a good plan, CXs don’t really like sitting for too long , they are meant to be driven
![]() 12/13/2018 at 10:41 |

Look at all the Citroens that need driven ! https://www.lanemotormuseum.org/collection/alphaindex/c
![]() 12/13/2018 at 10:53 |

Thanks.
Over here there is no licensing, someone that had a certain degree can call him/herself the title that goes along with it . This does means that responsibility and scientific integrity are part of the curucilum, and that we have to vow to be responsible with our work and to take into account the impact it may have on people/animals/society.

Thanks! I’ll make sure to take a BX as checked luggage on my next flight
![]() 12/13/2018 at 11:05 |
|
Now I can legitimately call my wife an architect. After all, she has the degree and that means something, at least in your part of the world!

If I visit someday, I’ll gladly help with driving the BX4TC, GS Birotor, M35, and the Visa GTi Rally car ;p
![]() 12/13/2018 at 11:12 |
|
The poor BX4TC is probably mothballed because its a fresh hell to work on and get parts for and the M35 is veryyyy rare but give me a month or so notice and I’ll see what I can get out of the garage
![]() 12/13/2018 at 15:13 |

That’s probably true! I’ll let you know well in advance if I ever end up in the area :)
