Namely: make this Volvo look worse. The V90 is gorgeous; V90 CC is not, but I guess if you gave me one for free I won’t say no either.

God, the V90 is so nice. I don’t like where Volvo is going with their interior design though.

Could you elaborate? Or post a pertinent photo; I'm not all that familiar with their interiors (other than that obscene white one on the XC90 Excellence)

I like the look of both (whereas I’m not a fan of the old XC70). I think they’re both too big though, better to go with the V 60. Even better would be a new V40/V50 though given how bad the S40ish concept they showed a few years ago looked, I’m not sure that would turn out well, and even if it did I’d have low hopes that Volvo would bring it to the US.

He’s right - I sat in the V90 and the lifted one at the auto show a couple of years ago. Very luxury, much leather and wood.

I’d like to lament about their attempt to claw into the “luxury” lexicon, but the proof is in the pudding: it seems to be working. XC90s and XC 70s everywhere in op ulent areas around me. They don't offer affordable cars (subscription rate for the XC40 is laughable), I don't think you can get a decent V60 for under 45k...

People say it’s a good car! But the styling is really much less refined than the rest of Volvo’s lineup.

I like the proportions of the V60 better as well but honestly the interior volume, particularly the back seat, is a bi t tight for largish adults.

Fanboy chiming in... How far out of line with traditional lease cost is the subscription model? $600 for everything but gas is similar to a lease and insurance , I would think?
All of that said, I wouldn’t do it.
The interior in the V90 is understated and gorgeous, in my opinion. It all seems to work and it’s supremely comfortable. The XC40 is not as nice, but it’s kinda funky and kind of cool. I am not the target audience, however.

I’m probably replying to the undue praise the subscription program was receiving, specifically on FP. When you run the numbers, it didn’t sound much better than anything else, plus $600-whatever a month on a car is not an option for the every-man/woman. Packaging it as alternative to... what, I don’t know... seemed like a lot of hand-waving.

Yeah, the V90CC one of my only recent test drives and my takeaways were:
1. Way too much simple stuff has to be done via touchscreen
2. It’s the biggest outside/smallest inside cars I can remember. With black interior, it would feel like a coffin.

I avoid black interiors unless there’s good contrast. Black interiors can be good, but usually they’re just claustrophobic.

And hot in the summer...and they hide the dirt, but that’s only good to a point. Then you’re just blissfully ignorant about your own filth :D

I recently saw a V90 in person. I stopped what I was doing to stare as it went by. It looks even better than in pictures. The owner also has a Chevy SS in a very nice blue.

I like dark/medium gray interiors. Hides filth, doesn’t get too hot, isn’t claustrophobic.
