That’s beautiful.

Land Rover has such a rich and varied history considering how short it’s life is compared to other marques that have gone before or still around.

Yeah, it’s very hard to believe Land Rover didn’t exist before WWII . I used to love watching coverage of the old Camel Trophy runs in the 80s and 90s.

There was one of the Camel Trophy’s that was so hard going, I believe it was the Tierra Del Fuego, they were only covering 20metres a day. Supplies had to be airlifted and people started getting stressed and anxious  and one night people had to lock themselves in their vehicles while security and a few others tried to restrain a driver as one had a crazy episode and was convinced everyone was after them and started running around with a machete.

Amazed she’d never been on a ride in one. I’ve heard Mark Allen talk about how much he wants Jeep employees to go on a short track they have, so they can appreciate why people buy them.

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah that was surprising to me as well - though since she started there at 15, maybe not that unheard of...

Mark Allen is right - It’s always good when your employees have an appreciation for the capabilities of your product, and what the edge cases are.

I’m honestly surprised with a lot of these extreme events more people don’t go nuts.   That’s a pretty good record to have only one machete-wielding crazy driver over nearly 20 years.

There have been other episodes over the years, mostly minor, occasionally more severe but that’s the one that always stuck with me as it’s close quarters with little to now here else to go.

With the TDF, it was incredibly inhospitable, everywhere was overgrown, it was always very humid, add very little to do and working so hard to keep moving while hardly getting anywhere.

They always had doctors both medical and psychological to keep an eye on participants. After it they added more games and little team building events to keep spirits and morale up.
