Kinja'd!!!

Went over 50k on my work van today. That’s in nine and a half months from new. And I did a bit over 500 miles today doing runs to Wyoming and Nebraska. I’m hoping I make it to 70k before my, uh,  vann iversary. That’d beat the most I’ve driven in a year.

Mines broke again. This time it needs a new cat and has a broken thermostat plus a couple nasty ce l’s relating to the trans. I’ve been in a rental again for a while. Happy to know yours was built a little better.

Sorry to hear that, that sucks.

I don’t want to jinx anything, but FCA products have been somewhat good to me. My Fiat 500 never had any mechanical issues, and I had 3 Ram C/Vs at my last job where two of them made it to 250k plus. One did have to have the transmission replaced but that’s because some road debris caused an impact that made all the fluid bleed out before the driver realized. That was at 230k with no signs of any trouble before the mishap. The other did have to have the head rebuilt at like 220k, and then was rear ended at 270k. They were all 2013's.

They still make those in a V6? Holy crap. The base V8 can barely get out of its own way. The driver’s seat isn’t the most comfortable either. They are very reliable, though. At my last job I’d resolved to only buy GM vans until they were discontinued.

But, as it is now I’d never go back to one. I have the extended length (but not longest)/high roof version and I have filled it with cargo more than a few times. It’s way more comfortable on long hauls than the old school vans. I love the low load floor that’s courtesy of it being FWD. That being said I don’t blame you at all for making the switch given how catastrophically unreliable yours has been.

Have you ever driven a Transit? They're mostly ok, I myself still prefer the ProMaster to them, but there's one thing the Transit had that I covet. The cargo area lighting is INSANE. There are super bright LEDs everywhere. Meanwhile, being in the back of my van is like being in a coal mine with only a Bic lighter to help you see.
