I ain’t got time fo dis shit
I whitelist Jalopnik and keep the AdBocker off, and this is what I get? Since when did the FP start allowing shitty mid 2000s p ro n site popups?

Kinja uses an unhealthy number of ad/tracking services:
adsafeprotected.com
adsrvr.org
amazon-adsystem.com
chartbeat.com
cxense.com
doubleclick.net
google-analytics.com
googletagservices.com
imrworldwide.com
krxd.net
quantserve.com
samba.tv
scorecardresearch.com
skimresources.com
There’s no way that Kinja can keep a handle on dishonest ads popping up through these. Better to keep the ad blocker enabled always.

Yeah but the Ablocker( Ublock Origin) screws up comments completely. keeps loading or disables them completely. And I don’t want to change Adblockers because it works beautifully everywhere else.

The problem is that the Kinja blogs as a whole are as sketchy as always, and Jalopnik can’t do anything about it.

Have you tried just unblocking “cxense.com”? I’m not 100% comfortable letting it through, but i t’s the only way I could get comments to work right.

I use uBlock Origin with uMatrix. The latter allows granular control over what's blocked. The issue with the comments being broken is because uBO blocks the requests for scripts to third-party CDNs (lazy-ass web developers can't be arsed to host the scripts on their own servers) -- uMatrix allows you to whitelist these with a couple of clicks.

Buggy as Kinja gets sometimes, its still my favorite commenting platform. But as much as I’d hate to lose Kinja , Ja lopnik deserves better than Fusion/ GMG/Univision .

I updated to the latest version of Chrome yesterday and turned AdBlock off for the FP. So far it’s been fine, but the first time I see that crap it’s being turned back on.

Oof. This should NOT be happening! Definitely send this issue on to the Kinja helpdesk. I think this is it, but I’ll let you know if I hear of a better address: https://kinja.desk.com/
I know a few other people ran into the same issue so I think they’re working
on a fix, as again, this isn’t something that should happen. Definitely don’t click it.

wat if... it’s not jalopnik, but your browser that was infected when you were browsing “shitty mid 2000s porn sites” and is not about their page, but about your browsing ? :D

My apologies—this should be the correct form for Kinja issues: https://kinja.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000106393
Thanks for pointing it out!

I use uBlock with very aggressive filtering and have almost never had a problem with Kinja’s comment system. Usually it’s just that the comment system itself has broken, not my filters breaking it.

No argument there. Kinja is still easier to use than many older platforms.

I’ve been getting that pop up too. Usually on Splinter (I know, but it’s a bad habit I can’t break), not so much on Jalopnik or Oppo.

Yep, I got something similar last night:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Clearly somewhere they are dealing with a disreputable ad networ k (almost certainly not directly, but somewhere down the chain someone is letting these malicious ads run ) .
