I’ve done this, but I much prefer a tube over the wrench if I need more leverage. “Buddy” technique has been known to come apart at the joint, causing knuckle damage too many times :/

Ahhh ze blue wrench, nice to have the power of liquefaction. Different type of sastsfaction when compared to applied violence.

I’ve done both. Sometimes a tube just won’t fit, then wrench over wrench is the only “fix”.

I’ve done this more than a few times, and have never broken a wrench from it. But I have bent a (Tekton) wrench that way.
It ’s not much of a bend, but it’s there, and probably wouldn’t have happened had I used one of my Craftsmans with the thicker handle.

It should just be called the slip and fail technique. I have an assortment of old bike seat tubes for the slip over and and torques technique.

Had to use an oxy torch on my Galant’s rebuilt turbo. The old one had blots, new one had studs, but I didn’t have bits for them, so they needed to come out. Fought with it for hours, the next day I took it to my grandpa’s house and he heated it up, had it off in 10 minutes.

Pretty much saying it has no family that will miss it so it’s coming the fuck off.

I was never able to get the torch method to work, tried using a propane torch a number of times and it made no difference. Changing the O 2 sensors on my truck, I actually broke the exhaust off trying to unbolt them. Propane didn’t work, clamping it in the vice and using a 4 foot extension didn’t work, PB blaster didn’t work, I didn’t have Kroil at the time but I’m skeptical even it would have worked. Oxy-Acetylene though, put the torch on it for maybe a minute and it was glowing, backed right out no problem. Literally days trying to get it out, and with the blue wrench they were out in minutes.

There must be a significant difference in temperature between a Propane fire and an Oxy-Acetylene fire. I’ve tried using little propane torches for this too. I had one for soldering copper pipe, and tried to use it for heating up a bolt, it did nothing.

I think a lot of propane torches are just too small, it probably would not worked nearly as quickly if I used a welding tip. I probably did not even need to turn the oxygen and it would have still heated up relatively quickly. But there’s a reason it’s used for cutting and welding while propane really isn’t.
