As inspired by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ...
Tu
rns out my local library has a 3D Printer,
figured I’ll give this
a try.
Hopefully it works out, the library seems to only have ABS white plastic. The video says they need Z-ABS white or transparent. I’ll probably just do one door first and see how’s the result .

Yay! Nice to see more people getting into the 3D printing gig! Our local l
ibrary system has several printers, with at least one at each branch. I work there part time, so have designed and made a few things myself for my car! :)

...and I came back empty handed. Turns out the library I went to only has the Dremel which does PLA only. The CubePro which does ABS is at another location and I’m kinda lazy to go out again, lol. I need ABS because I need the light pipe to flex around the door, PLA might be too stiff.
It’s OK, I have a whole week off soon before I fly for my vacation, so I’ve got time.

Good luck! Not sure if PLA is more brittle or not, but I know it degrades in the natural environment compared to ABS. PLA absorbs water (not like sponge levels of absorbs water, mind you), so over a long period of time, it degrades. It also has a much lower glass point (i.e. when it begins to get softer on its way to melting) than ABS does. PLA MELT-melts at around 180-220 Celcius, but it’s glass point is only around 60C...which means if you try to use it as an interior part in a hot car, it won’t melt into a pool of plastic on the floor or anything so serious, but it will warp from summer interior car heat over time.
I know this as I had designed and printed some clips to mount on the parcel shelf of my car to hold my snow brush in non-winter seasons. They work great, but the first PLA versions warped from summer heat and no longer held the brush and it would just fall out over time as the clips enlarged in diameter from the warping. A kind Oppo had printed some in ABS and sent those along and they never warped (still had to replace them eventually as I accidentally cracked them once). Another kind Oppo made them in UHMW for me and those have been perfect. :)
The left one is one of the ABS pair...the clip part up top didn’t warp, it looks wider than it should be because of where it cracked. The one on the right is the PLA one which, as you can seem warped quite a bit more than the ABS one did.

Fun stuff. I find the F30 ambient lighting is super annoying in that it’s virtually invisible (save for the highest setting). At least the LCI has the center stack LED surround though, which is cool.

I had the car for 2 years and I didn't even know I had the option...
