Months, if not years, of accumulated grease needs to be removed. Thi s technique seems to be doing the trick, but I really should have been wearing gloves. My fingertips were all wrinkly, but as my hands dried there seems to be some extra tension on the skin on the (somewhat reddish) tips. Perhaps I should have soaked my hands for awhile to get rid of the chemicals and restore balance, but a nap was more pressing...

Probably should have worn gloves while scrubbing bleach on my garage doors.

I did see your tale of woe over the last few days and was amused, although in a pained, “been there”, sympathetic kind of way.
Having worked with bleach during cleaning in the past I know the discomfort you’re currently feeling. I don’t know what that purple cleaning stuff I was using actually contains, but it seems to be working and smells nice enough. It was on sale at my local NAPA’s reopening earlier in the year and was dirt cheap, less than $3/gallon. It also did a nice job of loosening whatever that was at the bottom of my favorite Stella Artois glass, although I still need to find a way to safely remove that kitchen grease from the outside of the glass without grinding off the gold around the rim or the nice, painted logo. I could probably just go to Schnucks and get another, but it’s just grease and should be able to be removed with a brush or something.
