And if I were actually getting gas, I’d probably get 20 cents off that due to fuel points. (I was instead riding my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , because it was actually warm today.)

Not sure about the cost.... but it shouldn’t be subsided for personal consumption (only like people who need gas, which is far from the many that use it )

Don’t worry, it’s about to spike really bad.

Come to Cali. I just filled the truck with premium at $3.75 for 34 gallons

Come to WA, it is more than $1/gallon more here. Save for diesel, which has been equal to or cheaper than Regular for a little while now.

Gas is too cheap?

Cheap gas will bring about green vehicles more quickly because the more we use, the sooner we run out.

In Sydney, Oz over the weekend, 95 octane E10 was AU$1.20 per litre. In my home town, it was AU$1.56.
Diesel is around $1.60 per litre.
There are 3.785 litres to a US gallon. And the US dollar buys 1.36 Ozzie's at the moment.

I do think gas should be much higher, to account for the environmental damage (and of course the fact the current fuel tax is not indexed to inflation or the price of gas, so it is paying for vastly less infrastructure per mile driven) , but it’s not happening under this administration.
For the record though, I paid $ 3.39 (for premium) to fill up today (didn’t actually fill up, gas pump was strangely slow, so I stopped after 5 gallons).

It’s the winter formulation bullshit. Nevermind Shell’s scam of charging close to 60 cents more per gallon for 93 because “V-Power NiTRO!!!” which is even more insulting when they’re blending at a minimum of 10% ethanol content around here.

Damn. I freaked or yesterday because their “ 88” ethanol crap was at 2.45. Regular 87 is still at 2.60

Ew premium should always be ethonal free.
I was looking at Denver Turbo option and almost everything insisted on on Premuim fuel, but hen I remembered that Co has like 85 ethonal garbage.

It did, over $4 gallon in several states. But now dropped again most recently. There is no fundamental reason for higher oil prices, it’s down to traders making trades based a lot on speculation.
In reality, US frackers will adjust to any sustained oil prices, which was just proven again. And as the world moves to towards electrification, it’s only going to put pressure on oil prices to stay low.

I just mean Trump’s recent move where he gave several oil companies exemptions to buy oil from Iran without telling OPEC. The sudden drop is the result, due to high supply. However, this has really pissed off OPEC and is more than likely going to cost us dearly when they retaliate.

Converted to USD and those vintage US gallon things, gasoline is about $6.50 a gallon here. People still buy those hideous SUVs/crossovers, they’re turning into a plague. So fuel is probably still not expensive enough.
This is in Germany though, where a very strong car manufacturers lobby has made sure there are no significant environment taxes other than fuel taxes.

They can’t retaliate like you think, because cutting production reduces their market share which will be taken by other countries, especially the US which is now pumping more oil than Russia or Saudi Arabia. We are producing more oil now than 12 out of 14 OPEC members.
They need to sell oil to make money, so they can only do so much to “hurt us” in the process of production cuts to raise prices , they need us to keep buying in a potentially shrinking market in the next couple of decades.
They cut production, we increase production and take their market share. They need to lower prices to take those contracts back. It’s really a no win situation for them now that US production has become so efficient in production and costs.
Prices will continue to go up and down on speculation, but don’t expect high prices for very long, the market doesn’t support that.

Fuel prices aren't a good measure, the good measure is fuel affordability.
