They have generally gone the way of the Lada Samara...so, no.

I can not remember the last time I saw a late 1980s  Hyundai Excel...

I could see one or two ending up in museums, but as a collectible vehicle, I’d say no.

Hyundai Scoupe is kind of rad. I don’t think they’ll ever be worth a ton - but something.

Much the same as any unremarkable 1980s and 1990s car will ever be.

A reasonable question when I think that until the late 90s few would consider a 70s Corolla collectible. But if the 80s or 90s Korean product had similar interest we likely would have started to see it by now. So, no.

But I can imagine in another 10 years some from the 2000s and later may become collectible for those who grew up with them, in a somewhat ironic way. And, less ironic, the Genesis coupe could become slightly collectible.

I think everything finds it’s niche eventually! I don’t figure we’ll see them gett ing very collectible though.

Sure, but only in psychotic little niches like your great uncle who still has a working Cimarron.

No. I mean, I’m sure there will be a few nice ones that are loved, and a few rich people with fond memories of their first beater who would pay for one, but they aren’t ever going to be of general interest. Perhaps someday distinctive things like the Tiburon, Soul, or G2X will be considered desirable classics (though I’m not sure there were enough G2X’s  made to ever have a wide collector following ), but I don’t see it for the ‘80s/’90s shitboxes.

That’s a no. Korea got its foothold in the global car market by making them cheaper and in more quantities than anyone else. Old Korean cars were literally designed to be disposable and to be discarded after 5-10 years.

I can see the original Hyundai Pony becoming kind of collectible... in a rare-but-not-valuable sort of way.

No.

Only if Korean cars get a golden era like Japanese cars in the 90s. But people don’t care enough about cars these days for that to ever happen.

And even if they did, old Korean cars are just cheap fwd economy cars. I can’t see them getting revered like the cool rwd 80s Japanese stuff does. They have nothing to offer.
