Got the box all situated last night and applied both oppo stickers.
It looks kinda good!
This is just dirty tho.
This is just the doggo.

I have the same gigantic box. It rides on my WRX, but I’ve also used it on our Outback and on our Explorer. Putting it on the WRX can be challenging. The trick is to get it far enough forward so I can still get the hatch open. Even if I put it on the first set of holes, it would still have tons of front overhang.
The best mileage I’ve ever seen was with the box on top. It had more to do with slowing down than aerodynamics. We were in a caravan on our way to Scout camp where I took that picture.

I think it would hit the tail gate on the outback so it’s on the Mazda for now. We have a 60” long cargo box too but it’s not long enough for skis and that was the point of this box purchase.

It can be mounted farther forward on an Outback, but you’re right to be cautious. It can hit the rear spoiler when the hatch is opened if you aren’t careful.

Our Skybox had adjustable clamps- like you could move them forward or back as much as you needed. I had it on the st Forester so the back would open all the way. It barely hung over the front.
