Hot take: Its fine. The new ones are fine. None of them were great looking and none of them were bad. On a scale of 1-10, the last 4 generations rate like a 7, 5, 6 and 6 when we’re talking looks.

I think the OG Mazda 3 was a good looking car, but it was also pretty hard to have any strong opinion of.

Still somewhat regret not getting that Mazdaspeed3 last year.

I loved my Protege5, but I know it is in the earth now. I love the stupid happy smile front end more on the 3 .  Although, the speed6 was/is pure sedan sex.

Quite agree, the original 3 was best though I don’t mind the outgoing model either. As predicted they started ruining the original with the first facelift. I was happy to have owned a 2006 (last year before facelift). Most reliable car I’ve ever had. Shame about the rust.

I agree. I had a red 2006 3 hatch. One of the few cars I’ve owned where I was always looking back to look at it when I walked away. Great to drive too. Shame about the rust.

Good thing yours was stout. I took mine for an oil change and they told me it was one big pothole from the unibody just collapsing from rust. They didn’t even charge me for looking at it. I sold it to CarMax that weekend.
