It’s awesome. I still haven’t had the time and money to modify it in many attrocious ways so it’s pretty good. It sips gas, feels extremely roomy and light to anyone who gets in, it’s practical with the folding seats (can carry a full size bicycle without taking off a wheel) and I can park it anywhere.

I sometimes wish it were faster, though. I have trouble keeping up with traffic at higher speeds, it’s noisy on the highway and I can’t dart in and out of small spaces in moving traffic.

Other downsides are all my fault/maintenance/age, like non-working and crackling speakers, missing rear wiper and parcel shelf, broken left side mirror etc. But once I get the cash I can easily fix all that stuff.

Good car, woud recommend.

I was just looking at Twingos last night as they are dirt cheap here in Chile , sadly it was only sold until 1998 and the versions with the canvas roof which  is the one I like only came with the C3G engine which is pretty prehistoric but are they any good?

I can’t tell from personal experiance, since mine is a 1998 and has the D7F 8 valve .

As far as I can gather from reading forums and chatting to people, the C3G is even slower than mine, and that’s pretty freaking slow. However, exactly because the C3G is prehistoric it’s become really reliable and bulletproof, so if maintenance is a huge deal for you, my educated guess is that you’ll be happy with it.

I’ll just say that if I were to buy a Twingo again, I’d find a 16 valve model. Every bit of a performance bump can help, and the extra fuel costs that the 16v creates over the 8v are minimal.
