This guy definitely drives a car
. Definitely does not use his blinkers. And definitely thinks he’s an Einstein level genius
.
This comment is not in response to anybody, they just thought they’d share their nifty opinion, unprovoked, on a video about an old car (said old car was equipped with blinkers BTW).

I'm betting this is one of the idiots that tell Steve Lehto that there is no law requiring a driver's license and that he's not really a lawyer.

I would love to see this guy get his chance to tell a judge the cop that gave him a ticket
is uneducated though. But like really, where do people get these ideas?

“ That horse and buggy doesn’t have brake lights! See, there’s no law about brake lights either!”

I don’t think Michigan has a law requiring cars (except commercial ones) to have turn indicator s.
However , you ARE still required to “convey an intelligible signal or warning ” “before stopping or turning from a direct line”. So if your car does n’t have “mechanical or electrical signal device s” , you better damn well stick your arm out the window and let people know what your intentions are.

yeah - I just don’t understand the hesitancy using turn signals or tapping the brakes to signify quickly slowing traffic . It is your opportunity to potentially prevent somebody from hitting you - why would you NOT want to do that?

It’s been a federal requirement since 1956 (non retroactive, so older cars are exempt), so there’s likely no need for a state to require them.
I wonder how many people understand hand signals these days?

my guess is he says he’s a “sovereign citizen” and doesn’t need a driving license too

Well yeah, he’s not driving, he’s travelling, so why would he need a driver’s license...

I know them from cycling, though I can’t remember exactly when I learned them, I don’t think my parents taught me, but maybe they were taught in elementary school sometime (I vaguely feel sometime 4th-6th grade?).
Of course especially in places with crappy roads, or when riding at high speed (and then needing to brake for a turn), I don’t always feel safe taking a hand off to signal, which isn’t exactly optimal .

To some people, the turn signal in an adjacent lane is an indication that they aren’t following close enough and they should close the gap between themselves and the car in front of them. “Oh no, buddy, you aren’t cutting in front of me!”

Arizona doesn’t require that vehicle have turn signals (I ride a bike without them), however, we have a law that says you have to provide a signal (hand or lit) if you are turning and it could impede traffic. Technically, if you’re on an empty road, you don’t have to signal. But I’m a self conscious BMW owner and I always signal.
