A well maintaine Toyota built this century for $5k seems like a NP.
I think we all know what’s going to happen to the price of these once the guys with money and no skills who w ished they were more rugged than they are start bidding on them on BaT.
![]() 11/27/2018 at 00:48 |

Within two
years
, there will be no 1996-2004 Tacomas for sale on CL or at any
dealers; each one will be listed on BaT.

Seems like a good deal. Would you regret not getting a Land Cruiser and start shopping again after 10 months?

I say too much, $4k tops.
![]() 11/27/2018 at 00:52 |

And they will all be listed at $20k.
![]() 11/27/2018 at 00:59 |

Almost certainly. Although to be fair, a 2006 LC/LX would be triple the price, which is not in the budget.

With frame rust. Rust-free examples will require human organs on top of the $20k entry fee.

I’m voting save money and buy nothing.
Yes yes, I’ll leave my Oppo card on the desk when I clock out of here

That’s cheap. I’m going to assume that the underside looks like a corpse from that one episode of the X-Files where the sick have those boils that burst and blast puss onto anything around it to spread the disease.
Here’s what Land Cruisers cost in the PNW:

I told my wife last night,
“But I haven’t bought anything in TWO YEARS!!!”
“You have not had that Lexus for two years.”
“Okay, like 16 months. It rounds up.”
“No... No that rounds down! It’s much closer to one year than two.”
“UGHHHHHHHH!”

nah I bet it’s OK underneath.
I also bet that it’s sold within 24 hours (listing was posted 6 hours ago as of now).

not gonna lie, the thought crossed my mind about calling my bank for a $6k personal loan on that when I saw it.

There are so many wonderful vehicles out there, I won’t live long enough to own a slivver of them all :(

Gah! It's the worst when they're right!

Listen, “save money, buy a heap” I can get behind. But “save money, buy nothing”?! There I draw the line my good friend

I can't believe I'm going to say this about a vehicle with over 200k miles that isn't dirt cheap ... But that's probably a good buy.

Not only was she right, but she went for the kill-shot later:
[me, facetiously] “Why don’t you talk my feelings more seriously?”
“You know, I think you’re not going to replace anything this year. Because if you were going to, you would have done it by now.”
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

it equals 372 k km (approx), i’d grab it if i were you

Maintenance is more important than mileage.
This one has all the things I look for:
Maintenance records indicate PO was not on a shoestring budget.
Pride of ownership- 231k and 17years of driving without destroying the interior or letting the paint oxidize.
Parked in front of a well maintained house with a pretty yard.
I’d pick this one over the same model with 99k miles on it but... parked in front of an apartment complex, with dog hair interior accents, “and that one tire has a slow leak- no big deal” , even if it were priced 100o$ less.

NP all the way. Buy for condition and quality of care/maintenance , not for numbers on an odometer. That one’s a looker, too!
![]() 11/27/2018 at 07:46 |

That’s a steal!
![]() 11/27/2018 at 08:07 |

And I thought my paint was clean. I vote yes. So you buy it and not me.

This thing is practically a steal with that service history at that price. At least it would be down here in the Southeast.

I drove a girlfriend’s 01 4runner for a few years. It was a limited trim, but it was a great vehicle. It feels very familiar and comparable to the 80 series cruiser, just a tad smaller and more manageable. The radiator/trans oil cooler tend to fail and as it’s one unit, this usually results in filling the transmission with coolant.
These were/are still made in Japan, for whatever that’s worth to you.

If they’ve put that much effort and money
into recent repairs, why are they
selling it? It’s like giving your wife a boob job right before filing for divorce.

Looks pretty good, it’s a lot of miles but seems to have been kept up.
I’d be jealous of your functioning power antenna, though. That and the clock are all that isn’t right on mine.

Honestly I’d be tempted by this if it wouldn’t be an utterly redundant midpoint between the two vehicles I currently own.
Focus jasmits focus, if you buy a third car(which in no case should you) it has to handle and get *better* fuel economy than your truck on the commute ..
