It’s !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! /Dodge Omni 024, those names where from 1979-1982. Later renamed the Plymouth Horizon/Dodge Charger for 1983.

Wait, if you know about these Chrysler never sold a drop top. A company based from Toronto called Pony Convertibles did the conversion. They offered conversions for Mustang IIs, EXP’s, 024s, & TC3's.

Pony Convertibles only build 28 drop top TC3's, so it one of the most rare L-Bodies.

I’m not great at ID’ing engines. It could either be 1.7L VW motor or the Chrysler 2.2, I don’t know. If it’s the VW it had 70hp, & the Chrysler motor had 84hp.

Were interesting times, most everybody thought safety legislation was going to outlaw convertibles in the 70s , which weren’t selling all that well anyway. So Detroit made the “last” production American convertible in ‘76 or so Cadillac Eld orado I think. Then specialty makers like ASC and lots of lesser knowns like pony started making limited production chop tops, often with additional frame stiffening to make up for the loss of the structural member, this often lasted just a couple years before the factories started making drop tops again.

I don’t remember Pony or the TC3 convertible, or never heard of it. It looks pretty cool, thanks for posting.

Wonder if anybody has tried to catalog the various limited production chop tops from small shops in this era?

I am an expert at identifying these engines.

2.2L K block 2bbl. Front mounted distributor and front mounted oil filter with the alternator down low and the A/C delete bracket.

Compare to the front of the 2.2 Turbo II

that’s a 2.2. you can tell by the valve cover and that it’s the one year they were painted Chrysler Corporate blue.

the 1.7 still had the VW-style valve cover. and a rat’s nest of hoses.
