It’s been snowing most of the day today. I took the TA to go to Jayhawk Jake’s place tonight, and noticed something seemed odd about 2 minutes after I left my place.
Old picture from when the TA still had Missouri plates
Despite having turned on my headlights, neither had popped up. So I cycled the switch... nothing.
At this point I got worried because I’ve had to fix the headlight motors before and it’s a massive pain in the ass.
Cycled them again and the left popped up, covered in ice, at which point I realized they had been frozen shut. Cycled them two more times and the right finally came up.
I love how pop-ups look but goddamn are they an unnecessary complication.

You have 200% more flip ups that I do. Consider yourself a lucky man

Ever think about adding haptic/vibrating motors to the headlights to shake the ice loose?

Mine bounce around when I’m driving so the light flickers a bit. Gotta replace my headlight bushings.
Feels really strange to type that

Oh yeah make sure to replace your muffle bearings too.

I just fill my muffler with grease to keep the air flowing through it with the least amount of friction possible

When I had my Probe I always had to make sure the headlight doors were clear of ice too. Being cool enough to have pop up headlights comes with certain responsibilities.

My first car had flip down headlight covers. Standard procedure in the winter was to kick the ice off of them before getting in the car.

The porsche 944's single motor design remains the best. Never had any problems with it.
