Drove an 850r back-to-back with my 850

Quick thoughts

850r was stock, relatively low miles, and in good shape. My 850 has a huge list of mods (I really need to find that list, I can't remember half the things), high miles and... Well... Nothing has broken in the past 8 days!

The 850r felt noticeably slower, and a bit smoother.

The 850r had an automatic, which wasn’t very great.

The 850r had functioning traction control, so I could go full WOT in 1st and 2nd with zero tire spin.

The 850r had way less creaks and rattles than my 850 with an 850r interior.

The 850r was a MUCH better color (Safron).

The 850r had MUCH better wheels (the ones that look like Pegs, but aren’t Pegs. In dark grey)

The 850r and 850 seemed to have a comparable level of body roll, which is to say almost none.

The 850r had a broken rheostat just like my 850!

All in all, I liked my 850 more. Mostly because of the manual, but the more *hectic* boost feel is pretty neat too.

Still really need to drive a first gen V70r. Look at that beauty....

Oh and I saw a pretty neat Gt-r today. They’re as common as Telsas around here, but this one was modified quite a bit. Made some nice sounds, which isn’t what I expect from Nissan’s halo car.

not excessivly slammed to the ground, a spoiler that looks solidly mount as fuck, fat meats with no camber or stret ch to them, and a debadge? AND makes a good noise?

that is a car that is tracked hard and with regularity.

No, it’s definitely not. Serious GT-R track monsters are running the NISMO for the additional camber. That’s also a hackjob mount that could only be attempted on the steel trunk, and cheap Chinese fake CF junk to boot. It’s non-adjustable trash for the rice boy crowd.

This is what serious people run:

Kinja'd!!!

And this is the garbage installed on that GT-R. EXACTLY.

Kinja'd!!!

So yeah. No. Riced out piece of shit that’s probably been abused to within an inch of it’s life and never so much as parked at the track to watch a race.

huh, because the last car I saw that exact stuff was on the track being beaten to within an inch of its life

I’m likely a long way out from something new.

Unless a mint yellow NA was to appear...

Or a cheap blue Cayman and I could ta lk myself into financing a car...

The 850R didn’t come in saffron, just yellow, black red and maybe white. Saffron was a V70R specific color.

The traction control isn’t really traction control, all it does is cut power by applying the brakes to the spinning wheel, thereby forcing the opposite wheel to spin. It’s janky. Your car with no working tracs, or with it turned off, should blow the doors off a stock 850R. Just don't dump the clutch and keep in mind that it won't start making real power til 2nd gear. You'll never win a standing start against much but a rolling start is a whole other ballgame.

The wheels are probably S atellites but they came on the V70R not the 850R. They are also 16's which makes a world of difference in the ride quality. The additional sidewall helps a ton.

Was the 850R a sedan or a wagon? The sedan will be way quieter. All the w agons creak.

The wheels were probably Titans, come to think of it. They are 850 wheels.

Uh, that cheap-ass AliExpress garbage? No. Especially since not only is it not carbon fiber but cheap fiberglass , it will it not provide downforce, it’s also basically put together with aluminum wood screws and double-sided tape.

Hint: you are not getting a real CF wing for $1300 shipped from China . This is the same as the “OE IDENTICAL” scams on eBay at $900. Third-party OE-style low rise is $1350+ from a mediocre vendor.

The genuine article for the steel deck is NISMO PN 98100-RSR50 and listed at JPY$380,000 ($3370) when ordered separately in 2013 . (This is the genuine N attack spoiler.) Real CF is why the  full N Attack package is nearly $100k over the NISMO .

Must have been a respray, it was definitely saffron. I’ve noticed that about 2nd gear though, to the point that I normally just shift into it before hitting boost in 1st if I’m trying to get up to speed quickly. And huh... I have a lot of tread still, but I honestly don’t know what tires I’m running. Maybe that’s why I’m spinning so much.

It was a wagon, and had the same wheels as the v70r posted above. Those were Satellites right?

I don’t think I’ve seen an 850r sedan. There’s a beautiful T-5r s edan on the local Craigslist, but it seems a bit spendy?

I’m guessing you saw Jake's post too? I don't know how he found that so cheap. Really got my hopes up.

That’s probably the right price if everything checks out. The 1995 was the only year for the T- 5 R (developed with the help of Porsche!) , after that they were badged as the 850R. I am not sure why...

Those wheels you posted on the green wagon are Sats, the ones shown on the sedan in the CL ad are Titans.

You su re it wasn’t a V70R you were driving?
