So I found out the 2014 Mini Cooper S I bought has a service contract that covers oil changes, all filters and even brake pads until June of 2020 or 100,000 miles. Sweet.

Apparently 2014. It does have a one year only engine though I don't know the differences between them (B48 vs B46). The good news is that they don't seem to suffer the valve cooking issues of the early GDI cars.

Ok. A quick Google search reveals that the B46 is the ultra low emissions version of the B48. In Europe the B48 is still used in the Cooper S. The John Cooper Works uses a version of the B48.

Very nice and well worth it. If you buy OEM oil and filters oil changes are a bit pricey even if you do it yourself. I don’t know how the F-series cars are but on the R-series cars the S- models have the oil filter buried under the coolant bottle and a forest of hoses, so I pay the dealer to do it nowadays.

That’s a sweet deal, especially on a German car
