I’m shopping for used wheels to use for winter tires. New wheels for the Volt in the stock size are more than I’m looking to spend. I didn’t find any used wheels that will fit.
Thankfully, I found some members of a Volt forum that run 16” wheels in winter.
I found some BBS wheels on Craigslist, and most of the specs I can decode seem like they’ll work.
So, I’m reading this as a 16” wheel that’s 8” wide with a 42mm offset. Can I determine the center bore based on the stamping?
Unfortunately, the seller took them off a car he bought used that already had them mounted. He didn’t have any information other than the bolt pattern listed and said that was all he knew.
Help me Oppo Wan Kenobis; you’re my only hope.

You can get a set of new wheels for under $300 from Discount Tire’s Black Friday sales
Also, what kind of car did he have that he took it off? Whatever the bolt pattern for that car is, is the bolt pattern for those wheels :p

Youll be rolling the dice in center bore unless you measure. What is the bore pattern? If someone has CAD, they can take a photo, enter the known dimension then get a rough estimate of the center bore dimension.
For most aftermarket wheels, that bore is pretty big. As long as it's large enough, you're okay. The center bore is there to help you line it up, but the lugs (if tightened in the proper pattern) should actually do the centering.

A quick CAD later:
The bore dia is 94.48 and the bolt pattern dia is 160.34

Read Nick’s suggestion and look at my reply.
You should be able to get a rough estimate of the bore dia.

Note,
these are 8" wheels, they are pretty wide for 215 tires or whatever you run. You could if you want clearance the center if you want.

Personally I’d find a 7" wide wheel and run a 205 for winter.

Thanks very much for the CAD thought. I knew it wasn’t critical to match but was worried it might be too small.
Thanks to the knowledge I knew this place possesses it looks like the bore is quite a bit smaller than I need.

This is just the type of beyond my capability knowledge I’d hope to find.
Thanks for the work!

Thank you very much, sadly too small for my use.

I had looked at what they had there. I just preferred the look of these so was hopeful they’d work. The seller mentioned the bolt pattern, but that was all they knew.
Sadly the bore is too small since another OPPO knew exactly which version they were.

Thank you very much for the work. Someone found the spec sheet for the exact wheels so it looks like they won’t work.

No problemo!

Ooh damn :(
Btw was I close enough with the CAD?

I had seen that. Someone on one of the Volt forums had a combo that worked with a 16x8 wheel. I don’t recall off the top of my head what exact tire size they mentioned using though.

I’d definitely prefer a 7” wheel. I just like the design and the price was right. I figured it was worth considering.

I assume you are using 215/55/17's presently. These have a 26.3 diameter per tire rack. You want winter tires to be narrower so I would pick the 205 65 16's who have a tread width of 6". Tire rack is measuring them on 6" rims.
I don’t know how happy they would be on 8" rims and would tend to shy away from them.
One other comment, those rims I bet will be pretty heavy. BBS rims are neat, but at 8" they are more for sports applications on 225 to 245 tires rather than winter tires. Here’s the search I did
