My Grandfather, veteran of the second great war and owner of both G erman and Japanese cars, had one of these as a “P lymouth Caravelle”. Never gave him a lick of trouble, because he never drove it. My Mom got in pris tine condition (home made seat covers from new, no snacking in the good car), and it was rusted out, blowing up transmissions and retired at 86,000 km. What a piece of shit, in contrast to the 85 Toyota that outlived him by 12 years.

That was certainly the intention, Chrysler tried pretty hard to push the 400 and LeBaron as pseudo premium products.

Comfy seats though, air conditioning and AM/FM dre ams,  I’ve been on genuine 1980s roadtrips with grandparents in one of these. Good memories, not enough that I want one.
