If the listed price is correct, $500!!! I can’t speak French, but the Google Translate translation doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense...anybody speak French that can provide a more sensible translation? It mentions something about ‘plated’ and ‘not having’ ‘paper’...is it saying it couldn’t be registered...?

Google Translatified:
“Citroen ax 1.1i 1990 very rare only 22 000km body as new interior also except the cluster which is to break the engine is new transmission can be plated but I do not have the perfect paper for piece decoration shell of drag or put it back 1200 $ or exchange ofrez I am open 8194735821"

But I mean, it looks in great shape and I can’t imagine it would be hard to get running! And $500!

EDIT - Found another translation that seems to suggest no engine....that explains the cheap price. :/ Are AX 1.1L engines hard to find? :O

Sounds like no import paperwork or a salvage title...

The use of the word “shell” makes me think there’s no engine. The front also seems to be sitting very high which would make sense.

Yup, found another translation site - transmission is new, but no engine. :/

Thinking no import paperwork. It has no engine either, apparently, though I can’t imagine a suitable engine would be hard to import!

It does have an SAAQ conformity sticker on it though, so at one point (sometime in 1994) it was inspected as a used vehicle for registration in Quebec.

Maybe they’d lost the title?

It says no engine, and new transmission also  says can be plated, but I don't have the papers.....then says for decoration or to use a shell for drag car.

Swap the drivetrain of your accent in it.

OK, here we go:

“ Citroen AX,, very rare, only 22,000 km body as new, interior as well except the (instrument) cluster which is broken, missing the engine, gearbox is new, can be registered but I don’t have the paperwork, perfect for display, drag racing or to be put back together etc”

I wouldn’t bother personally, the AX wasn’t Citroen’s finest hour - flimsy and unreliable. You rarely see them now, even in France.

Mais oui... “manque le moteur” = “missing the engine”

I could :P

....but I imagine French ecobox bodywork is less rust-proof than my Accent in the winter months. :P

Thanks for the translation!

Awww, shucks....it’s just fun seeing European cars here that never got!

Better option? (If a glacially slow one) :P

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/calgary/1976-peugeot-504/1396160509?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

The 504 WAS sold here officially though, hence the ugly NA-spec bumpers on that one...I imagine swapping them and the lights for Eurospec units wouldn’t be hard!

Odd though it might seem, some owners in the rest of the world swapped in the round headlights to be different!

Not surprising, people do the same here for European cars, but the Eurospec lights just look so much CLEANER....the NA-spec lights are ugly, even if I am usually a fan of quad headlamp setups!

The Citroen AX is not a rare vehicle on a global basis. It’s only rare in North America because Citroen has sold cars here for a long time. And that looks like a Post-facelift model... meaning it doesn’t even have the monospoke steering wheel.
