Won’t really be Z , but the new Alpine A110 is wonderful, so it won’t be a bad badge engineering, for a change.

Kinja'd!!!

From this review, it should be better than the 370Z.

This is not at all a cheap car in Europe. An NA A110 would retail way above a 370z and place it squarely in Caymen/Boxster territory. It might come here someday, but probably not as a Nissan and definitely not for $30k.

The Alpine is absolutely great, but it has one major issue: it has no manual transmission option.

Exactly. The 370Z starts at € 33.5k in France, the Alpine at €54.7k. So over 60% more expensive.

It’s a much better car though, by all accounts.

Not a problem for ‘murica. Or most of the world, if watch sales numbers.

370Z is already mid engined. FRONT mid engined.

I’m not so sure.... A manual transmission seems to be a necessary option, even if it’s not popular.

The 4c is selling really poorly, and it’s a mid engine auto-only car.

The Alfa is kinda compromised and childish. This is more balanced and compelling.

And.

Alpine is a rather boutique brand for Renault. It only works within allocated budgets until it builds up some brand power. Nissan has money bags to bring to the table and a hall o w ed Z brand to match. So developing a manual wouldn’ t be out of question.

I agree. Found it disheartening.
