So I wrote a long blog post about it. It kept me from working on the Exocet for nearly an entire month but the entire time, my friends and coworkers were really kind of dumbfounded by my experience.

That was an interesting read, I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with this. It sounds like the worst parts of being drunk, amplified one hundred fold.

So that solution you found should work if the symptoms ever come back, right?

i’ve found with my vertigo that having one ear warm and one cold was triggering it (i sleep on my side)

so i lay a jumper over my head

If my wife lapses this winter, I’ll have her try that. How did you figure it out?

one of the guys at my local footy club mentioned it, so i tried it and it seems to work for me. don’t get me wrong it may not work for everyone.

one mentioned cut salt out of my diet, another said to try a particular drug.

My wife’s doc said to be consistent with her salt intake. It’s the changes in the salt concentration in the inner-ear fluid that messes things up.

For me it’s about motion, if my eyes move in a direction that my brain isn’t expecting, I’m down for the count. Sometimes I’m able to catch it and “fix” my brain. I’ve also found that it’s worse when I have an illness or infection.

That was a fantastic write up.  I never really understood vertigo until you explained it so well. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

My wife had a run of the crystals as well, it was pretty terrible until we figured out these ninja moves.. we got really good at the eple y;

After 6 months and three or four spells of it they stopped completely.. S o far so good a year and a half later.

That’s really great to hear. Mine got down into the bulb and I needed the Sermont to get them out of there before doing the Epley!

I’ve trimmed salt as well. The day before, I was a bit dehydrated and had about about twice my normal salt. They said that anything that messes with fluids (like dehydration can be a cause).

About 5 years ago, I started wearing a night guard (I clench my teeth at night). A dental hygienist who had vertigo mentioned that one to me.   That also seemed to help. Along with neck pillow to my shoulder away from my ear. I honestly don’t know how all this is related, but I would do anything to keep it from happening ;)

Yep, in theory that should clear things up in 1-5 days or so if they re-appear.
