I’m searching for an E500 Wagon at the moment and it’s brutal. There’s only so many clean ones left, and over the past couple weeks or so, every time I make my mind up to go check one the next weekend, it gets sold the VERY NEXT DAY. This has happened like five times now. I don’t know which one of you is buying every car I’m interested in, but I’d really appreciate if you’d stop.

Wish me luck please, it looks like I’m going to need it.

Sorry. I just won the lottery and I love toying with people.

Fair enough, I’d probably do the same.

With the niche market enthusiast cars you need to be ready to take action same day. Sometimes you can stall a bit by requiring a PPI or offering a refundable deposit to show interest.

Generally better luck working with a private sale, dealers solely want to move product and clear up floor space.

There was one for sale where I worked with somewhat low miles for $8k. I legitimately thought about buying it but I decided to buy the ratty Volvo wagon instead.

I MAKE GOOD LIFE CHOICES!

I just bought one and it’s pretty incredible... It, and the Volvo 242 make for a good two-car garage. :)

Try northern California . I got mine in Sacramento for $5500, and it’s a 100k mile car, so...

I’m in Jersey so that’s too far for me, but the one I was planning on looking at this weekend was a fully loaded ‘04 with 90k on the clock. One owner car too.

I have some time to find one, it’s just a little frustrating. I have alerts set up for Cars.com and Autotrader so the next time one pops up I’ll probably call them and beg them to delist the car for a few days.

Enjoy the car, I promise I’m not jealous at all!

Guilty as charged . The enthusiast wagon market looks a lot more like the 911 market (sans prices) than it should.

Any purchases in your future?

No, with rumours of 4C production having stopped at just 3000 units worldwide , I guess the investor in me can’t let it go now.
