I read about it earlier - haven’t watched, and won’t watch it. Sounds brutal.
And oddly reminiscent of another Washington QB, too. Hope he’s able to play again-

Theisman's tweet was originally added, but Kinja be Kinja'd today. Took me 20 minutes just to get this far.

When I saw your post, the Theismann twit was there - was just commenting that it reminded me of him even before I saw that--

33 years to the exact day, too! This was easier to watch than Thiesman. His is etched in my brain permanently thanks to Lawrence Taylor's immediate horror for doing something he never intended to do.

Welp, that's what I get for never watching Parks and Recreation

I decided to scroll through comments left on Thiesman's tweet. Turns out the final score was exactly the same, 23-21, except his Washington Football Team won.

I’ve seen these types of injuries befor e, mega ouch.
On friday my coworker nearly cut off her index finger while slicing up an Avocado . I kid you not. She currently doesn’t have any function of that finger... I was the one who got to do 1st aid and take her to the hospital.

Same here. Over the years, I’ve woken up and seen how the team name is offensive, to say the least (and no rationalizations from other white people are valid when they defend it as “No, it’s reverential/honoring their bravery/other horseshit” are valid. Native American culture has said it's a slur because that's what it was, we don't get to say that their outrage is wrong) and the more I hear about Dan Snyder, the more my stomach turns.

They used to sell beer inside the men’s room at the stadium at the direction of Dan Snyder. He’s the worst. And the team name thing is absurd. How the NFL has allowed it to remain is just as bad. It’s racist, it casts the team and the city in a bad light and it should be changed.
Another note about the racist roots of the Redskins: they were the last team in the league to integrate. That was in 1962. That’s one of the reasons there is a large predominantly black fan base for the Cowboys in the DC area.

Ah, a white Jewish New Yorker is the curator for what Native Americans find offensive. Thanks for clearing that up.

Also, I feel like your link is proving my point: the article mentions several “prominent Native American tribal leaders” and activists not agreeing with the poll’s conclusions—both in their personal opinion, and specifically that it’s not an effective way to survey the opinion of the Native American population.
And I wonder if this is because the 2004 poll allowed people to self-identif y (as mentioned in the “Daily Show” piece I linked previously) , with no verification of tribal status or residence. The 2016 results make no note of how these participants wer e selected, so it may have the same issue with the sample group. It could be a bunch of white people who claim a fraction of heritage (knowingly or unknowingly regardless of truth), setting aside that their experience is wildly different from a member of a tribe who lives on a reservation, and cannot escape being identified as Native American (and any negatives that others may bring to the table because of it).
The TL;DR is this: if one we re to address Native Americans as “Redskins” in person, and I’m confident that they’ll have a problem with it.

No, he’s just the guy who has a show that decided, “Hey, since this is in the news, let’s talk to some people, give it our usual humorous spin, and run the piece.”
Absurd sarcastic response is absurd.

Geez, how? I worked at a Qdoba for 4 years and made countless batches of guacamole without injury (about 60 avocados per batch, multiple batches a day). And I was fast, too: Flick out the eye, slice around and through the circumference using the pit as a guide, swivel the two halves apart, use heel of knife to pull out the pit, dispose pit, repeat 59ish more times, then scrape the avacado “meat” from within the skin 120 times, and move onto the next step. Took less than 15 minutes from start to finish, even faster if someone was dicing the onions and prepping the
jalapenos
and
cilantro...
