Bathroom remodel in-progress

Sooo... my wife told me I can buy a car if I *actually* finish the bathroom remodel I started 3 months ago. A week ago it was studs, 2 days ago I slapped the paint on the wall, and yesterday I started tiling the shower surround. What can I say- the lady knows how to motivate me!

To do: Finish tiling the surround, lay Durock on the floor, tile the floor, grout everything, install the vanity and toilet, plumb the tub drain, and install the towel rods and other assorted hardware. Wish me luck, Oppo.

She knows the type of cars I’m into... Old and cheap. Whatever I end up with will be 20 years old and sub-$5k, so way cheaper than paying a contractor to do the job and she’ll get the added financial benefit of my not daily driving my Suburban at 12 MPG.

Nah, hell- I’ve never even lived in one place longer than 2 years since I was 18, so I can’t procrastinate THAT much.

I’ve been obsessed with with old turbo Volvos lately, so probably that. My criteria are: fast-ish, fun to drive, kid-friendly, comfortable (I have a long commute in Portland traffic and I’m extremely tall ) and it has to make a good noise.

I like that criteria! Although I am childless so if you drop that and the “ ish” it’s more my wheelhouse.

Only slightly exaggerated by a decade on my father. They have been at their spot for around 18 years and the bathroom has only been 6 or so. But it’s possible there are some hanging around the 18 year mark that never got quite finished.
