Please enjoy this picture of a couple of Fords in the Ford I took last month. Totally unrelated but I need something to make my literal shitpost better.

Kinja'd!!!

Some may remember my plumbing issues. Found one of the reasons why a couple days ago. Builders didn’t put the vent pipe in the hangers and it filled with water which then froze.

Spent yesterday thawing it and cutting into it to put a clean out plug so it’ll be easy to check in the future. Then last night around 8pm the whole house backed up. I’m already a couple bourbons in so I have my wife take me to Home Depot to rent a big power snake.

Get home, start running it and after a couple minutes it starts squealing like a bearing is bad and about to lock up. I quickly get the line back in before it gets stuck and I add to my problems. Whole house is still backed up

Screw it. I’ve had enough. We built this new house a year ago and I can’t keep doing this. I’m not a plumber, I’m an airline pilot. If a plumber needs to go somewhere on a plane he doesn’t go give it his best shot, he calls me. D amnit, I should reciprocate, because obviously this is over my head.

I’ve gotten to where I hate my house, all over this one recurring issue. At this point it’s worth whatever it costs to fix it right so I’m not up at night worrying about it.

Naturally I’d come to this conclusion 2 days after spending $2300 on the lift for my garage. I wouldn’t have done that if I’d known this would happen, so maybe it’s good timing. T his would be just another excuse I’d use to talk myself out of spending the money for the lift, which is something I’ve been doing since the mid 2000s.

Plumber will be here in 5hr and the lift is being installed on December 3rd. Hopefully I’ll love my house again after those two happen.

I feel for you. I can definitely relate. Sometimes it’s just better to have a pro handle it.

Hopefully this will let you go back to enjoying your house.  Good luck.

calling a plumber is a good idea.

however, how do you know the plumber is competent though?

that’s another thing to worry about

One of the issues I’ve had is a leak in the kitchen that caused $13k in damage. I had a very highly regarded home remodeler come fix that (floors, cabinets) and his plumber was great. I called him when this happened and he recommended the guy who is coming out this morning (Plumber 1 doesn’t do sewer issues and focuses on things like remodels and new bathrooms etc) . I did some searching and can’t find anything but positive reviews on the guy. Basically he specializes in the exact issues I’m having and has all the scopes etc to look in the pipes and make sure things are correct.

Here’s hoping this all resolves without too much trouble.
