Rebuilding a bad distribution block for the auto grease system on one of our machines, along with rebuilding way covers.

Can anyone guess the machine?:

Kinja'd!!!

Hint #1: It’s a high accuracy/high speed CNC mill.

Hint #2: It’s Charcoal and Cream colored, uses the letters kaionm ( Jumbled ).

BigBlock440 is our winner.

With the correct guess of Makino. It’s an S56 to be exact, but given the lack of other info, Makino is a win. I’ve already given his prize, maybe someone can help him find it and pull it without being noticed...

Well, that certainly looks like a mill vise of some kind in the top of the picture, and some kind of ways on the left, so, big horizontal mill or some-such?

It is indeed a mill. Not horizontal and not what I would call big though. ;)

That’s a mill, that's your y axis screw, and I’m going to guess it’s a Bridgeport.

2/3.

It is far from a Bridgeport.

3 axis mill? Bridgeport?

But I bet it’s got a Fanuc control .

Bridgeport was just a guess by their commonality. All I can do now is spitball common brands of CNCs. I don't have that kind of commitment.

3-axis. Not Bridgeport.

I don’t know but I recognize a KURT vice when I see one. Umm HAAS VF-4

3-axis Haas or DeVlieg?

Kinja'd!!! JustAnotherG6 > Long_Voyager, Now With More Caravanny Goodness

Kinja'd!!!1

So it’s a VMC. Likely with an cabinet where all the work is done since it has an auger for chip removal. If it were a HAAS brand I’d guess it’s around a VF-3 or VF-5 in size but I don’t know the color schemes of all the different brands to really narrow down my options.

Also, with machining centers, size is extremely relative.

It’s actually Charcoal gray and cream colored, the blue is just rtv that wasn’t removed yet. ;)

Not Fadal though.

Apparently a Makino of some sort.  I cheated with google though, I couldn’t remember the name of a CNC we used at my last job, I thought it was it.  Turns out I wasn’t even close, it was a Maho.

It is a Makino.

Which is likely as close as we’re going to get without more info. I’m going to name you sir, the winner. For that, I give you this:

You’re going to have to find it and quietly pull it out without being noticed though.

Even with all that cast iron, it’s probably better than the motorhome engine I’m currently using.  Then I’ll have an engine for my Stratus too.

440 in a Stratus?

That’s my kind of crazy.

I wonder if the Mopar kit for the Daytonas could be modified to work in a Stratus..........

I’m not sure it would fit, but I’m sure a small block would. Actually, I’m pretty sure it won’t. Eventually I’ll do it, probably with a 2nd gen Avenger though since that’ll be the easiest to find in decent condition. I originally wanted to do it with a 1st gen Avenger though.

I wonder how hard it is to find one of those kits NOS, now that they are past emissions age where I live, I’m having really stupid thoughts.

We measured the engine bay in my old Acclaim. I could fit a 426 Hemi in it if I moved the radiator to the front of the header. I can’t imagine a Stratus/Avenger is much smaller as they ran a variant of the same engine with roughly the same amount of open space...

I’ve came across one in the last 6 years.........

That being said, there are a couple guys making RWD conversions still: Tom Allard of Allard Fabrications: http://www.allardfabrications.com/about-us.html

Kenny Exline of Exline Custom Auto:  http://www.exlinecustomauto.com/clientscars.html

The 1st gen (and 2nd gen) Avengers have longer engine bays than the cloud cars because of cab-forward, at least that’s what it looks like.  I haven’t actually got to the point where I needed to measure though.
