I mean, I love winter BUT I’M NOT READY

Kinja'd!!!

Guess I’ll go to the pub, then.

But seriously, I just wasn’t ready for 10F mornings, snow/ice everywhere, and more tomorrow. Forecast high temps are around the average LOW for this time of year. I have to go out in the cold, crusty snow and put snow tires on the Mini later.

Let me finish my fall chores, would you? Let me put my truck away, and take the dock out, and finish stacking wood. Let me get one more nice fall bike ride in, before the trails are snow and ice, oh wait, that’s all done.

Maybe I’ll talk to my friend about putting a plow on my truck. I think he’s got all the brackets he needs... hmmmmm

It feels like winter came early and suddenly here, too.  We’re not used to temps in the 20s and 30s in November.  No snow, of course, but everything just feels chilly, you know?  It’s like when you want to take a shower, but you shiver because that means you have to take your clothes off, and everything just feels drafty.

Barely mid-November in Alabama and it was 27 this morning with powder/frost everywhere (thankfully the roads were all clear and no downed trees). This is at least a month early, maybe two. It’s weird to see all this white stuff on GREEN leaves in the trees.

They were all shooting it, she was just slow to turn away.

Really curious on the back story.

Seriously, let me finish raking my damn leaves before they all freeze together.

I did get the leaves cleared out of our yard, but not without literally using a headlamp at 9:30pm the night before it snowed. Then the snow knocked down a ton more of the stubborn oak leaves, but what can you do.

A few years back we got 10" or something in October and it was a real problem, trees with leaves held more weight, branches broke, landed on power lines , etc.

Oh, fear not. Someone posted that with Nic Cage’s face... for some reason.

Some say you’re supposed to leave them on the lawn over the winter, it’s good for the grass. I was about to bust out that reasoning when I somehow got them done just in time.

While it may be true, it’s a LOT harder to move them in the spring, that’s for sure.

I think you’re right, and wow big oops.

It looks like there’s a line of snowblower-cut snow right at the platform’s edge, all pushed onto the tracks. Maybe a snowblower-equipped train was supposed to then clear all that off to the far side? because yeah, now that snow is all back in the station, or at least half of it.

Speaking of slow to turn: the holder of the camera that shot this in the first place, lol. I guess their phone survived.

Yep, if we get freezing rain down here before the end of December, the results can be catastrophic because of the leaves still on the trees. Then the power lines come down and the roads are too icy for the crews to work at full capacity. Even with gas heat, it still requires electricity to run the air handler. At least we have a fireplace in the den we can crowd around :D
