I’ve decided. I’m going to try and get the Queen ready for Radwood, and that means getting the roof holes welded shut, replacing the mismatched fender and header panel, and having the whole car repainted/refreshed.
There’s also the paint work for the push bars, chrome trim, and then cleaning her up. I did a little research. Getting a new fender direct from Ford will be around $375. Not too bad. I already have a spare header panel.
Roof work: $1200
Trunk lid work: $800
Repaint/refresh: $???
What do you think? Should I go for it?

I’ll need to also get prescription aviators and a leather jacket.

Wait. There’s a Radwood seattle?
I’m there. I will bring my truck.

Wait... $1200 just to take care of the holes on the roof?

Yup, it's a consistent quote I've gotten from three different body shops.

Well, there is a reason I chose her name

Yikes. Have you considered buying welder, or taking a tech college course instead? I'm intimately familiar with how much fab shops will charge. You'd definitely come out ahead if you could make it work

I may have to buy that e30 after all.

Rather have professionals do the job. I can remove the headliner so they don't have to.

Somebody should save it. I don't get the hate. My d100 wouldn't have been worthy of saving in most people's books, but I am glad it was.

Are you asking Oppo to convince you to make a financially unsound decision involving a car? Because you should.

I already am committing to it. Working out a feasible schedule right now. Most elective mechanical work and new tires+rims will be in the spring. June is when the body work starts.

It seems like for that money you could buy a nice Grandma grandmarquis and move over your interceptor parts and keep your car for spares.

If I had a garage, sure.

Maybe I can get my dear friend to lend me her stock, low-mileage 1987 Corolla sedan.

I’ll be the old guy thumpin’ the remastered Posse On Broadway... anybody find better dates/info ? There is BUCKETS of money here that grew up in the 80's... should be damn good.

Are the points small enough to silicone the hell out of it for the short term?

They're already silicone'd. I want to permanently resolve it. The plugs are an eyesore.
