Another resident in the home for wayward computers.
Nothing fancy, just an older Sandy Bridge i3 with an alleged failing hard drive, picked up for $20. The ad didn’t specify the model so I just took a chance based on i3/Win7 being listed ; it looked fairly small and so I thought it would be a better choice for use in the bedroom than that 17" monster I purchased a couple of weeks ago that’s just way too big, but at 15.6" this one isn’t much smaller. I now have a pile of older SSDs, so getting this fully operational again will be cheap and easy.
Someone stop me before I buy again...

I am writing this from an Atlas tablet. Our school forcesustousethese.Thespacebardoesntwork.buyoneandyouwillseemypainandsuffering
oh and it has less storage than an iPhone 8 https://www.ebay.com/p/BAK-Atlas-12-X5-Z8350-11-6-in-1-44ghz-4Gb-Ram-128Gb-SSD-Windows-10-Touch-Laptop/18014429697?thm=2000&chn=ps

Hey, that’s pretty deluxe compared to the netbook-like things our dear leaders bought for us to use for flight training. 32GB of storage total. Not enough room to load our simulator, a program at least 10 years old mind you, and Windows on the same drive which k ind of defeats the purpose. Its like an 8GB Android phone - put on the OS and you have room leftover for two, maybe three, apps total.
But that BAK thing of yours? Yeah, looks like a turd.

I should probably get something like this and install linux on for school. Don’t need a laptop, but it’d be slightly more convenient
than trying to find a computer at the library.

Man, I wish I could buy computers to repair that are that decent for $20! 0_o
I picked up a much-older Samsung R60 Plus laptop (Core 2 Duo 1.5ghz - I upgraded it to 4GB RAM and installed a hard drive, it was missing one) for $20, but that’s about the cheapest I could find that was new enough to still be OK ad basic modern stuff. You may scoff at the specs, but running Linux it’s still perfectly capable of normal everyday browsing and although 1080p stutters a lot, it ca still do 720p perfectly! Definitely some life left in it!
