One time a nd one time only, I tried this with my grandma’s cat , who I rescued from abusive owners years ago. Most loving, friendly, playful cat you can imagine. Follows people like a dog. Loves children. Jumps on laps. Etc., etc.

I was practically torn to shreds.

Yeah, they have to trust you enough to not just murder you when you try it, and you sill have to know how to wrassle them into it.

Tried it when we had cats. As soon as the lead was clipped onto the collar then just froze with their legs splayed out slightly and head down to the ground and just froze.

Craziest thing.

They do tend to either take it completely in stride, or react in the most rediculously crazy way imaginable don't they?

In Trumpistan, almost anything is possible.

This is not one of those things.

Seems like the cat has your friend trained pretty well, actually.

Yup. This aligns with my experience . Bought one for my SO’s cat and it walked about 2 steps, then collapsed and refused to move under any circumstances.

Meanwhile if I go anywhere near the closet where my dog’s leashes are kept they flip out.

Aww, my blind kitty takes walks on a harness.

Solution: get a dog and train that instead.
