If I did remote work that wouldn’t be a bad idea. I could finally live out my dream of becoming a storm chaser.

They can keep the $10,000 and actually get me if instead they build two world-class road courses within 4 hours of Tulsa.
Oh, and shoot all the nazis.
So that’s a no then.

I don’t know. I’m not sure Tulsa is remote enough for me...
...said no one ever.

I need to get one of these jobs (someone just sent me a feeler for one, but I hates the Java). I’d totally take Vermont up on the offer if I hadn’t bought a house here and my wife didn’t have so much family in this area... Tulsa, though? Eh, pass. I’ve met people from Oklahoma and have nothing in common with them.

I’m not moving to Tuls a until the Golden Hurricane is bowl eligible.

How bad could Tulsa be?
Okay... so it’s a Republican-heavy area in a Republican-heavy
state
, and it’s in the Bible Belt, but it can’t be THAT bad, can it?

Tulsa spelled backwards...

In Miss Mercedes Units™ that’s like a Honda CBX, a brand new Grom, and another smart car...
Wait, let’s take a look at the fine print:
We’ll give you some money upfront to help with relocation expenses, a monthly stipend to keep things moving and the rest when you’ve finished the first year.
I mean...If I were single and had a remote job I’d say hell yeah to that. Get me out of this miserable Illinois!

The local office is less than a mile away. I’m good.

I s there anything interesting in Tulsa? Never been... Looks like oil refineries, a big rail yard and a muddy river. Tripadvisor isn’t very kind either.

I LITERALLY JUST GRADUATED FROM TULSA.
It’s not that bad. I actually miss it a lot. You’d think Southern California would make me forget about it, but I can’t.

We’ve been here for 15 years and really like it. Look up the Philbrook , The Gathering Place, Cain’s Ballroom...

Those are cool, and Cain’s even has oppo related history. Looks like it’s been loosing employers through consolidation, but otherwise has good potential. Maybe Bezos can throw some Amazon money that way. Kinda reminds me of Spokane out here, but more flat.

Yeah, but, they won’t shoot the nazis.

ooooo tulsa.... thats like a big city
i stayed in duncan for 3 months lol
it gets hot there.... then it gets very wet... then it gets hot there... that whole process took about an hour
its also very flat... wich made the wall cloud doubly extra scary to lil me wondering wtf that shit in the sky was :p

Downtown has been going through a really great revitalization recently, but s everal big oil companies have closed regional offices in the past few years that were here and laid off or moved employees to Houston.
Northeastern OK is much different than western OK. It really is pretty over here - the Ozark and Ouachita m ountains aren’t far away (not the Rockies, but pretty nonetheless).

Haha - I live in Duncan for 3 years!
Where you there training with Halliburton?

I’m actually from here HAHA. Just went out of state to Tulsa for school (to study petroleum engineering unfortunately with the current oil prices.) I was going to be back here temporarily but the place that I interned at gave me a full time offer to be IT/Analyst.
I have to drive so long to get anywhere here, while I was in school, I had my pick of OKC, Downtown, Dallas, or just an hour out and it’s beautiful trees in full autumn colors -cries-.
EDIT: The second that I’m well prepared enough (financially) and I can find a job in Tulsa, I’m going to move there. My dream is to own one of those mansions in Brookside. (Cause they look prettier and cost 1/3 of a similar Californian mansion.)

“an experience” - I bet they were. Live and learn!
We were there from 2000-03, so not much after you. Did you visit the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge? I love that place.

i didnt no money to speak of and no car meant i was pretty duncan bound most of that time... shame really... did make a little trip to fort worth to go see american headcharge with a bunch of people i met over there

Yeah, prices are sucking hard right now. Stick with it - it’ll pay off handsomely for you in the long run.
The trees have been pretty, but y ou missed the 2" of snow we just got!
Glad this place made such a good impression on you. Hope you find a way back soon. A mansion on Brookside is quite something to aspire to! For what one would spend on an older , tiny home in California, we just bought a 4000 sq ft home on 10 acres in the country (35 mins from downtown) . =)

Oof, that is a shame.

come to think of it... i also got driven out to a supposedly haunted bridge nearby to go smoke pot... something about a girl being murdered by it
no idea if that was serious or if they were just trying to spook the furriner :p
