He's an experienced high-level attorney and a man with enough integrity not to roll over for 45. We all worried about Dan Ashcroft and he turned out to be a man of integrity as well, even if we did not necessarily agree with his political or social views. I mean, we're not going to get Kamela Harris...

That’s pretty much why I don’t think it would be as terrible as other options . He’s shown he’s not a Trump toady and he does seem to believe in the rule of law even if I don’t necessarily agree with his interpretation of it. Of course those are also the reasons why Trump won’t nominate him.

This brief exchange illustrates how profoundly Donald Trump and his minions have transformed American politics. You and I are actually saying (relatively) good things about Trey Gowdy, a guy Liberals would have openly mocked three years ago. Or Jeff Flake. In truth, I liked Flake before Trump came along because I thought that as NRA A+ GOP politicians go, Flake was pretty reasonable.
